I believe that the PlayStation 2 is the God of the current gaming world.

Lets take a look at the XBox. The graphics are phenomenal. That's the ONLY good thing about it. Wait... oh yeah, its also industrial strength, and can comfortably seat 8. The controller is too big for younger gamers. The console is also huge. Most of the launch titles were horrible. Xbox has to learn that you can't sacrifice gameplay for graphics. If you have used the controller than you know the games are hard to control as well.

GameCube is ok. I have no real problems with it except that it uses minidiscs. You can't get too much data storage with a mini disc.

The PlayStation 2 is the best. Graphics aren't that much different from the XBox, the games rock (short of a few titles), the controller is very easy to use, an all around great system.

I am an Anime fan. Thats why i think PS2 is better. Why do you think the XBox is better? :)

I'm sick and tired of this system war. I like all the systems. I think everyone needs to take a step back and remember why we buy these systems in the first place: THE GAMES! The games are what matter, who cares what system they are on! I have every system except X-Box, only because there arent any games that seem interesting to me right now. Ina couple of months however, I will buy one. The same thing goes for the new zelda game. Everyone is bent out of shape because the graphics arent "advanced enough". Who cares. The original zelda for nintendo had horrible graphics and yet it was an excellent game. The same can be said for the super-nes version. Despite it's rather childish graphics, I think it was one of the best games I've ever played. So stop being so superficial about this crap and buy a game for the game, not the system its on.

sheesh Doesnt neone know the real facts on playstation 2 their succes only comes from letting absolutly ne game on to the playstation 2 thats why theres hundreds of games suiting all criteria but games like britney spears dance beat or frogger seem to crop up more times than quality games. I dont understand why sony doesnt stop developers drom creating something so obviously crap.
I hope I dont offend many ps2 fans even though i have ps2 as well, but you have got to admit Sony do squeeze as much as they can out of us with the much needed 30 pound memory card! as well as this they didnt design ps2 with 4 controller ports they kept it to two so we waste our money on a stupid multi -tap. Needless accesories follow with a stand and dvd remote

Yes, but the PS2 also has GTA3 and Gran Turismo.

Consoles suck! The PC is the best gaming system out there. Try buying the game... and then emulate it. Graphics are usually a hell of a lot better. The XBOX has no good games, the Gamecube is just plain terrible. The PSX2 is about the best, but the graphics aren't that great, and it can be emulated.:) I never said that.

I agree wholeheartedly with Blib. Never knew you were a PC Gamer!

Well, right now my favorite game is "annoying the hell out of idiots". But my second favorite is Battlefield 1942. Counterstrike is cool, but it's getting a little old now.

Do you have the Road to Rome or Rise of Rome or whatever-its-name-is expansion pack?

For the first time ever I agree with Blib and Borg, PC gaming is the best by far. I was going to get BF 1942, but I played the demo and didnt like it, i sit any better than I remember? Is it worht getting? If you are really a WW2 buff, get Combat Mission: barbarossa to Berlin, it is a great game, very very realistic with armor thickness and projectile penetration accuracy, vehicle weights and silohette accuratly modeled, Small unit warfare on the eastern front, from a platoon up to a couple of batallions. Sudden Strike is also a fun WW2 game, not very realistic, but great RTS fun. I also love to play Team fortres Classic on the half life engine when I feel like poppin some skulls.:D another kick ass game is Operation flashpoint.

Pc sucks ass and all of you know it generally speaking when it comes to gaming. Sure its got many great strategy and shoot em up games but thats about it when it comes to genre. I admit of course there's Vice city and splinter cell but to play it you need a beast of machine to play it and a graphic cars that packs a punch visually and finacially. Lets see an average of $300 for the graphics card the +$900 for the PC then theres the controller: $30 lets not forget game itself : $40 altogether costing a whopping $1270. With all that money you could of bought all the latest consoles with tons of games as well as the accessories. Do you think its worth $1270 to just play converted games from another console which would cost a hell of alot less.
To round it off PCs suck at playing games and is real no competition for mainstream games like xbox and ps2 if it were if would no longer be a PC just a console. PCs should just stick to what it does best : internet

what are you an idiot? You think we have PC's just to play games? Games are a great bonus to having a computer, but not the only thing. With consoles you got 1 thing, games, and only certain games. You cant play FPS's with a console, the controls suck. FPS are made to be played with a mouse and a keyboard. The only good games to play on console are sports games, which suck to play with a mouse and keyboard. The versatility of a PC is far superior to the one dimensional console. I have both, and my PS2 is strictly for sports games, period. Oh, and twisted metal black.:D

WEll lets get this discussion right we're tlking about gaming not versatilty. PCs suck big ass and you know it. Keyboards are not ergonomically designed unlike consoles controllers (except xbox). Simply to put it straight youre a loser a total loser to think PCs are better at gaming and WE ARE TALKING ABOUT GAMING NOT VERSATlLITY. When i say loser i say it with truth according to opinion and fact this is because it is clear that if you lose at playing a game because the games has hard controlls you clearly aren't gonna enjoy it and a person that find ps2 games hard to ADAPT to the controlls is sadly a loser.
Answer me this which console including PC is more popular? Which has more wider array of genres? What costs less?
Lastly Playing sports on a computer, how sad ! there is such thing as realty

I'll answer you, metal. PC, PC, and PC. Most people have a PC already, that is something you overlook, so there's no need to buy extra stuff. The games are more expandable, that's a plus. Games are often cheaper. The average brand-spankin'-new PS2 game is $50, but a lot of brand-spankin'-new PC games start at $40. Plus there are more games for the PC than there are for a console.

Oh, and versatility can make one platform better than another. You do realize that, right?

excuse me do you know how many games there are for the playstation and generally they are better Vice city, Timesplitters2, Splinter cell, Tony hawk, need for speed, fifa 2003. When it comes to GOOD games they require a good graphics card and PC. Crap games dont require much

BorgHunter
04-23-2003, 08:12 PM
Seems like most of the games you mentioned...ARE ON THE PC!!! And if they aren't, they can be emulated. Oh, and GTA3 & GTA:VC look much better on the PC.

metalgimpsolid
04-24-2003, 06:02 AM
oh and what do they require tons of memory and and a good
enough graphics card that costs a bomb

BorgHunter
04-24-2003, 02:03 PM
512 MB PC133 RAM: $39
Radeon 9000 Pro (graphics card) 128MB (This is an excellent card: lower end of high-end stuff): $84
Total: $123
Compare to: Sony PS2: $199

I have a geforce 4! It runs playstation 2 games like a dream. I want more ram though, pull it up to a gig.

BorgHunter
04-26-2003, 07:46 AM
Which kind of GeForce 4? The crappy MX line or the better Ti line? You know...I'm going to start a thread on video cards...

Blibblob
04-26-2003, 10:23 AM
The crappy MX 440. It is still better than the Radeon counterpart that came out at the same time, 8700. My brother has the 8700, thats how I know.

BorgHunter
04-26-2003, 02:26 PM
I've never heard of the 8700. These are the Radeons I know of:
7000
7200
7500
8500
9000
9700
9800
Not to mention the All-in-Wonders. In fact, ATI's site doesn't have anything about an 8700. Are you talking about the 9700? That card is kick-ass, at least as good as the GeForce 4 Ti 4600, or even the new GeForce FX 5800.

I`ve got a Xbox, Ps2 and PC - If you want easy going I think Ps2 was best choice till now - @xbox there will come great games this year, you never want to miss and don`t forget stuff like morrowind :-)
I think PC is only the electronic platform for console games;

I have an xbox and a pc that needs some upgrading(somewhere in the $500-$100 range), I used to have a ps2, but I didn't find any upcoming games interesting, except for Final Fantasy X-2 and Metal Gear Solid 3. I was playing Final Fantasy X for about 30-40 hours(got about half way though the game according to my friend that already beated). My main complaint about it was its linear gameplay and its turn-based combat system, the same complaint everyone has about Japanese RPGs. Metal Gear Solid 3 will turn out to be a bad-ass game, no doubt about that. But I do doubt that'll stay ps2 exclusive, konami will probably port to the other platforms with extra content(remember MSG2: Subtance).

My little cousin, about 8 years old, wanted a ps2. So I sold it, his father bought it for $100(which should be its retail price). There are many graphically high-end games on the xbox, pc, and the cube that can't run on the ps2, at least not at the same detail. Ps2 is the most popular console and outsold everyone else, how interesting :o . I don't understand how having largest game library is an advantage, if about 90% of them don't meet the standards of a rugged gamer. There are more interesting games coming on the other platforms, to be honest with you, even the Gamecube line-up has more games that interest me. Sony has a very large market, TVs, computers, camcorders, VCRs, movies, etc. and they have strong third party support, like EA, whose upcoming sports games are going to be online only for the ps2, Squaresoft(now Square Enix), who has for the last 8 years made games only for Sony's consoles, and many others. Sony will continue to overhype their outdated console until ps3 comes out.

"$500-$1000 range"??? You can build a brand-new computer, well-equipped as well, for about $400. Max.

I don't need a brand-new computer, mine is custom-made and expandable. Got it for $1000(including tax) with no hardware in it. You're probably talking about the retail computer like Gateway and Dell, because a performance computer with everything in it will cost at least $1400, 3,000 at the most.

I've got an Athlon XP 1500+, 256 MB RAM (soon to be upgraded to 512 MB DDR), DVD-ROM, CD-RW, Radeon 9000 Pro 128 MB, 40 GB 7200RPM HDD. Cost me, if I remember correctly, about $550 total.
