I was just reading this story: http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20040329/us_nm/crime_kozlowski_dc_5
and I can't help thinking that our press has really forgotten its function in today's society. It amazes me to see such a prominent paper unscrupulously printing a juror's name and likeness in one of it's issues. Such a practice endangers our jury system and should be outright condemned!
This news comes among other items relating to press misbehavior that have caught my eye of late. Examples include a trend of having comedic/"entertaining" news broadcasters, hesitency to part with nationalistic views, and eagerness to try celebrity cases in the public rather than the courtroom.
The press needs reminding of its purpose and function.
