I heard on the news that G W Bush told TAIWAN not to declare it's independence. I don't know if Bush realizes it or understands it or not, TAIWAN is already independent of CHINA. I know CHINA is aware of this simple fact. Who does Bush believe he is? He has no right to tell TAIWAN what it can or can't do. Could it be that the threat CHINA made to use nuclear weapons against the U.S.A. may have something to do with Bush's stated position, or could it be because of economic trade? It seems that G W Bush would have the fortitude to stand up for TAIWAN's right to be the free, democratic, independent nation that it is, and to stop CHINA's land grabbing aims. Evidently, George W Bush doesn't believe in freedom or democracy, well not enough.

The one china policy is not something Bush just invented - it has been the policy of the US for many many years.
The US is effectively guaranteeing the security of Taiwan - so it has a right to counsel them about not creating a conflict that has no need to start. So, your comment about the US not standing up for Taiwan makes no sense to me.

Another thing that doesn't quite make sense to me is "Could it be that the threat CHINA made to use nuclear weapons against the U.S.A. may have something to do with Bush's stated position" I don't know but, wouldn't you be a bit worried about that too!! You know regardless of the original coversation, our president does have to be a bit worried and careful if another country has WMD. And has to try to prvent and action taken against our country.
If that wasn't your point I apologize in advance, but that was the way that I took the comment.
