Just curious.
I'm a gift entry clerk (glorifed datamonkey) for a national non-profit. I handle mail that comes back with money, and enter it into a database.
I've been doing it for about a year. It pays the bills, and I actually have good benefits.
It is not why I went to college, nor is it close to my dream job, but as with most jobs, I enjoy working with the people.
Nicest perk? Window office
Biggest drawback: 40 hours of work a week. Lack of variety.

I measure rivers and reservoirs and maintain recording instruments housed in steel shelters near rivers that measure the water level. also maintain sattelite data transfer for use in flood warning and for some recreational uses like kayaking and rafting. it is a good job, get to spend a lot of time outdoors up in yosemite, where my gages are. bad things are working iand driving in the rain and snow, and many hours crunching numbers back in the office back in sacramento.

I am a college student at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I am currently studying Liberal Arts and will be recieving my Associate of Arts degree in May of this year. Afterwards I will be transferring to Iowa State University to study Graphic Design (Or broadcasting, depending on if I make it into the GD program or not). In ways of work, I really don't have anything right now, but during the summer I work with my uncle mostly doing shingling and cleaning around the worksite (hey...it's something:))
Advantages: Working towards my hopefully-successful future and having something to keep me occupied during the summer
Disadvantages: The cost of college is way too high for someone like me...and although I do enjoy being outdoors, doing it in the blazing hot sun for several hours at a time isn't exactly enjoyable...but hey, it's work, it pays, so I'm satisfied.

I'm a people manager for a foreign publishing conglomerate. Disadvantages? An office with no windows! Advantages? It's never routine.

I live off my dad. :D
Actually, I do have a job. I work at the used car dealership my dad works at (as a manager, not a salesman). I come in every Saturday and start the cars to flush their engines, injectors, etc. out and get rid of all the gunk that accumulates in cars that sit for a long time without being started. A long job, considering the 125-odd cars we have. I also do odd jobs, like charging dead batteries, refilling low fluids (oil, transmission fluid, coolant/antifreeze, etc.), and cleaning the place up. I'm looking to get a full-time job there in the summer so I can save up for a car. I'm getting paid $7/hr., $67/wk. Not a bad amount of money for 9 1/2 hours' work.

You evil bastard, don't talk about the secret club! Borsch, kill him.
This club was never spoken of.
I'm a lazy student with around a 2.9 or lower unweighted GPA, and around 3.5 or higher weighted GPA. I don't have a job because my mom says I can't, and there are no good computer stores near by. I have no money and sit in front of the computer the majority of the day, usually messing around with several different operating systems. Ah, life sucks.

Well now you all blew it. Either you have to get a new club or you have to get some new rules...............
(or revoke a membership or 2)
Me, I am just a mom. I have worked a zillion jobs since I was old enough, mostly as a waitress or bartender, and I was really bad at it, I have a crappy attitude and I hate people. It is better for all parties that I am no longer in the industry. So now it's behind me and I am picking up after people and serving them for NOTHING!!! heheheh
The job I have now is the best. Little credit, but a huge reward. Once i have done my part and my kids are in school i can pickup where i left off on my trail to becoming a mad evolutionary biologist, or a cultural anthropologist, or just that crazy lady on the corner who talks to herself and yells at cars............

I work for a magazine for kids. I write articles on many various topics (dinosaurs, how to brush your teeth, or the aztec civilization…). I mostly design games and funny things like halloween party activities… I also write a lot of scenarios for comic strips and some children books (some of which are even published in the USA).
advantages : It's always fun. I work with very nice people. I work at home 3 days a week. I can play boardgames or watch cartoons as a part of my job.
drawbacks : none.

Fortunately I have stored millions of dollars in my box and therefore have no need to work. Out of interest, other than Astrapol, has anyone else found their dream job? I'm still working towards mine in college - freelance writer and mountaineer. :) Life is good...

<--- Operations for a cogeneration power plant. This facility sells steam and electricity to the nation's 2nd largest oil refinery by volume. Any excess electricity we produce is sold to Texas' grid at market price.
I work shift work, and it's normally very dull work. But I'm happy with the money I'm making and it beats the hell out of my first career choice, which was teaching science to junior high kids.
I sure wish I could have a job like Astra! Sounds nice... Actually, I wish I could be a pro athlete, but that never happened. *sigh*

I am a wife, a mother of a mini Dachshund and a Shih Tzu, a full time student, and I work for the DOD doing network admin. I have no time. I often feel like this...:hitout:...some days giving and some days receiving.
