Rich person is getting richer and poor person is getting poorer----The Chinese city and countryside income disparity is the worst in world
The average income ratio between Chinese city and countryside is raised from 2.8% of 1995 to 3.1% of 2003. It has an increasing tendency of this income disparity. Chinese Social Science Institute Economics Department made such judegement for Chinese city and countryside income disparity based on an investigation report of topic group.
The Social Science Institute topic group launched three national scopes for the inhabitant investigation, separately in 1988, in 1995, in 2002. Social Science Institute Eonomics Department researcher Li Shi tells reporter, "the actual disparity must be larget than this numeral."
ˇ§Most people give the different comment to this ratio because it cannot really reflect the real income difference between the city and countryside." Regarding this Li Shi explains, the cities inhabitant's non-currency income has not been considered, for instance, the urban population can enjoy the medical insurance and so on various other living allowance. The city elementry schools receive the strong financial support from government, the countryside schools only get few allowance and even have to raise fund to support the basic education for students from non-rich families. The city inhabitants enjoy social security, unemployment and minimum living supoort; for countryside people, these allowance are only hopes and could not be reached.
If these factors are also considered, the income disparity will be multiplied by 4 or 5, even 6 times. Li says that within the non-currency factor consideration, the income disparity between Chinese city and coutryside is the worst in the world.
According to investigation report, in 2002, 1% the highest income people received the 6.1% total social income in China, the ratio has been raised 0.5% compare to the ratio in 1995. From 1994, the actuall income disparity between city and countryside was turning smaller, but it gradually turning bigger from year of 1997. The city inhabitantˇ¦s income has been raised to almost 3 times of countrysidesˇ¦ in 2001. Within the non-currency factor consideration, the Chinese income disparity is the worst in the world.
