ON: The Gay Community ... Same Sex Marriage ... Civil Unions
From the Christian Science Monitor March 05, 2004 > USA > Society & Culture, the headline reads, "Who defines the word 'marriage'?"
God makes such a profound affirmation "defining" what marriage IS (not what man[mankind] thinks it should be) in Genesis 2:22-24(NIV) ... v22 Then the Lord God made WOMAN from the rib he had taken out of the MAN, and he brought HER to the MAN. v23 The MAN said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; SHE shall be called WOMAN for SHE was taken out of MAN." v24 For this reason a MAN shall leave his FATHER AND MOTHER and be united to HIS WIFE, and they will become one flesh.
That IS the indisputable "definition" of marriage!
It's not about "human rights" or "civil liberties".
No senate or congress, no court, no person and no civil liberties group can change what God has "defined" marriage to be, no matter the twisted wording they use ...
Romans 1:24(NIV) says, Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. v25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie ...
(the twisted wording) v26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones.
v27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
Hmmm! Could the due penalty possibly be some of the STD's widespread today? Maybe AIDS?
To those of you embracing the practice of homosexuality, God loves you still. He abhors the abominal wickedness and immorality of the "choice" you have made of your "sexual preference". And, it IS a "preference" ...
Genesis 1:27,28(NIV) says ... So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; MALE and FEMALE he created them. God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number"; ...
Those considering themselves Christian should reflect on Gods Word.
Come to Jesus. Come back to Jesus. He forgives all our sins!
He is faithful to forgive those who repent. He will set you FREE.

What fine words those are 4rjam, and they might even have some relevance to the law if we lived in a Christian theocracy. But since we live in a democracy that does not rcognize Christianity as the state religion, your opinions about what God wants are completely irrelevant to the question of whether gays should have equal rights under the law.
Of course this is a civil rights issue because once again we're talking about the law. I suspect your thoughts rarely stray outside of your religious beliefs however, or you would have recognized that a long time ago.
v27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

No, I think the penalty might be that we are now afflicted with self-righteous christian bigots who declare that the tragic deaths of people they don't even know represents god's wrath on gays. You should be ashamed of yourself for using other people's misery to promote your religious beliefs.
To those of you embracing the practice of homosexuality, God loves you still. He abhors the abominal wickedness and immorality of the "choice" you have made of your "sexual preference". And, it IS a "preference" ...
Tell me 4rjam, how is it that you know so much about what God wants and how he feels? Does God speak to you? Are you his divine instrument upon the earth?
Anyone who uses fear and intolerance, and professes to have special insight into the mind of god in order to spread their faith, deserves nothing but contempt and ridicule.

The gov't has already changed what you claim God has defined as marriage. There are many differences between the legal contract that we call "marriage" and the "marriage" you are talking about. God did not write the Webster's dictionary I own or the US Constitution.

I can't believe the "AIDS is a gay disease" argument still exists, mainly because its so easy to disprove. When it comes to sexual behavior, AIDS is most easily spread through anal-sex becasue that area can tear easily, creating an exchange of blood and other fluids. This has nothing to do with being gay...heterosexuals who take part in this act are at equal risk. Maybe that was a mistake by God...maybe his intent was to punish gay people but it back fired on him when it turned out that heterosexual people could also catch the diseas that way. I guess God screwed up. Also, lesbians are actually at less risk than heterosexuals when it comes to AIDS...where is their punishment? Hmmmmm?

There is no way to prove whether someone else chose to be gay or straight, so the only thing we have to go on is what people say about their own sexual orientation and common sense. I have never met a person, gay or hetero, who admited they chose to be that way. As for common sense, I know that I never made the choice to be hetero...I also never chose the type of women I am attracted to. You don't choose what turns you on, if you did life would be a whole lot easier.
If any heterosexual person is saying sexual orientation is a choice, that means that when they reached puberty, they did not find themselves attracted to the opposite sex more than the same sex...they just "chose" to go after the opposite sex even though they did not prefer one over the other.

Given that the group with the lowest AIDS infection rate are lesbians - does that mean they are Gods chosen people?

I guess so, maybe Mary was a lesbian...thats why God chose her and artificial enciminated her.
Disclaimer: That was a joke. No religion was harmed in the making of this joke. Please, don't be offended... just laugh, or not if you didn't find it funny, and have a nice day.

I didn't rip into him/her for posting his/her beliefs either, I told them they were wrong for using the deaths of AIDS victims to promote their religious beliefs.
I have lost too many good friends to this horrible disease to listen to any crap about how this is God's punishment on gays. Anyone who believes that deserves to die the way they did, and that is not a pleasant death I assure you.

AIDS being a punishment just goes with the territory of those religious hacks.
Just like in everything - there are stupid people, whatever religion or belief or whatever you are always going to get some nutcases. For the most part - Christians are reasonable people and most would laugh at the whole AIDS being god's wrath baloney.

THANK YOU dnamertz!! Whoo Hoo!!
4rjam: I'm not gay, nor do I wish to be, but do you really think the Gays CHOOSE to be beaten up on every day of their lives? Do you really think they CHOOSE to be degraded by their peers and families? Do you really think they CHOOSE to judged and ridiculed for being the way they are?
It is a sexual nature, not a detriment to who they are. Just because they enjoy a sexual preference does not make it your right to judge, ridicule, etc. If you liked women with blonde hair and your son preferred brunettes, is that a preference worthy of your preaching?
Get off your soapbox and stop judging. Unless you are GOD himself, you have NO right! None of us do.
