If love is an addiction then how do you explain pets, good friends, grandparents, kids, etc... I would say love is not an addiction but an emotion, maybe an emotion that can be very strong, but still an emotion. Sex on the other hand could be an addiction of a chemical sort, but love goes much deeper.

I did read, some, from what they said it is addiction from one being to another. X gives off smell A, Y gives off smell B, so X & Y become attracted to each other. Now my dog might smell, but I can tell you it is nothing I'm attracted to :). What about those in love with materialistic stuff property etc.... This is why I say love is different then sexual desire. A person can learn to love something, friend etc... Love & hate can be in the same category, addiction is something different.
Yes, love is totally an addiction! It's just like a drug why do think we put up with so much shit when we think we are in love? It can be so horrible, but take it away and you'll go crazy to have it back!
