After Internet dissenter Du Daobin has been detained for 4 months, on February 17, 2004 Chinese media made an announcement that police officially arrested Du in the name of the subversion of state power crime. Hubei province police department explained, 39-year-old Du Daobin ˇ§instigates the subversion of state power and repudiates the Chinese Socialist system.ˇ¨

Last July 1st, 500,000 Hong Kong people took to the streets the parade, this activity successfully forced Hong Kong government to put aside ˇ§23 legislations.ˇ¨ But in Hubei Province, Internet commentator Du Daobin, actually because wrote the article to support for the people of Hong Kong to oppose ˇ§23 legislationsˇ¨, has been arrested and accused of stirs up the subversion of state power crime.

Du Daobin is a writer from Hubei Province, China who has published 28 articles overseas in recent years commenting on China's current political issues. In three articles, Du pointed out that, after Hong Kong draws up ˇ§23 legislationsˇ¨ and the limit freedom of speech, the mainland people's freedom of speech also further can be limited.

Hubei police speakman censured that ˇ¨Du ganged up with some foreign people, organization and communities, received their support, and within their request, on inboard websites Du posted numberous sensational and incite factional articles to endanger country security.ˇ¨
