Does anybody listen to (See above)? People that can sit down and listen to a whole CD of Dead Can Dance or Bauhaus are so rare...

I'm not really into that kind of stuff. the noly goth I really listen to is the Cure which don't really count. if you recommended a cd to me I would try it though. what do you suggest I listen to first?

Depends on the style.
Christian Death is good mellowish but still rock.
Dead Can Dance is flat out mellow, calm, serene.
Alien Sex Fiend is more electronic, dance style, faster paced.
Siouxsie and The Banshies are Dark Pop(pop that more came into fashion in the nineties, not from the era they actually lived in) sounding.
Bauhaus is considered one of the first goth bands, and their music was still deeply rooted in punk, it is harder and more punk sounding, but with added electronic pieces, their later stuff is more erethreal.
For Dark Folk, I say Death In June, then Current 93.
Fields of the Nephlim is erethrealish "metal".
Sol Invictus is electronic dark folk.

Now, for CDs... I generally don't know bands by CDs :D. Although Death In June's best CD is Take Care and Control, best song: Smashed To Bits.

I am... Hey that is awsome to see someone into the same music I am. :) I think out of all the goth bands I enjoy it has to be The Cure. I adore them. Awww but I am a fan of all that you mentioned. Do you like the neo goth music out? I only like a few bands here and there.

Yay for the Cure! And what is neo goth? Is that the more mainstream "goth" bands? Or am I way off?

The slogan for these quote “subcultures” is

Conform to being a nonconformist

That’s why I left the Goth scene just a few months ago

You ever watch South Park? They had a show on that exact topic recently. "You can't be goth, you're not dressed like one. You're dressed like a conformer!" :D

that's exactly why I never went headlong into my punk phase..

Have you thrown out the coffin you used to "sleep" in yet? Can I get it from you? I know a friend who'll look nice 6 feet under. :D

I see nothing wrong with labeling, it's just stereotyping that I can't stand. Labeling is fine, because I label people, and 90% of the time, I'm right. I just hate stereotyping of groups, because a person may follow that certain thing, but the group as a whole is not necessarily that thing. There are certain nuances of people that don't fall into the group you but them in, but in the overall picture, it doesn't matter. Being the conformist nature of most humans. Get what I'm saying?

yes, exactly. I label people too, (in my head, of course) and it saddens me how many actually fit right into the mold. it really pisses me off when people conform to some conterculture standards.

Three good quotes on conformism:

"Conform and be dull." - J. Frank Doble

"Conforming is only acceptable when you conform with a nonconformist." - John A. Simone Jr.

"I don't care to belong to a club that accepts people like me as members." - Groucho Marx
