To the non-christians on the forums...would you feel offended if this happened to you on an airplane?

To the christians on the forums...does anyone agree with this? I sure don't.

that would really piss me off.

I would be highly offended and somewhat concerned about the pilot's mental stability. Telling your passengers that they are "crazy" for not being christian is grounds for termination in my book.

As a general rule I hate evangelizing of all sorts. Those types usually don't consider us Lutherans to be "worthy" anyway.

It actually isn't all *that* shocking to me, although quite rediculous indeed. It's not that shocking because by now I've seen more than a couple of incidents like that. It just seems that Christianity is one of those religions which *really* gives its followers the urge to want to convert other people. Throughout history this religion's missionaries have worked by far the hardest of any other religion in attempting to convert people. The religion itself is not good or bad, you see, it's just one that produces people who have to urge to spread it. Many other religions do not stress this, and so the followers don't attempt to convert people at all.

I don’t think a public flight that I paid for is the appropriate place for evangelism and is in violation of my right to peace and quite in the sky (surly there’s a law for that). In general, though, I’m normally not offended by those who wish to share their religious beliefs with me. It’s just as soon as I told them I’m not interested and they continued anyway, that’s when I thoroughly pissed off for them not respecting my religious beliefs. Kind of like the Jehovah Witnesses you can’t seem to get to leave.

This is the pilot speaking " You may want to become religious if you aren't because we are about to hit the ground.....HARD...." :)

I don't have a problem with it AT ALL...people are always trying to find something to whine about it and this happens to be it this time.

Can you imagine what would happen if the pilot started talking about Islam?

Would you have a problem with this:

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is your pilot speaking. We are now flying at 10,000 feet over the Atlantic. Also, if you are not Jewish you are crazy. If you are Jewish, I encourage you to talk to the non-Jews on the plane about how Jesus was not our savior. Thank you for your time."?

...for your religious convenience in the event of emergency, panels will open above your head and "prayer cups" will appear dangling from cords over your seat...grasp the cup firmly and pull down sharply on the cord to start the flow of "blessed christian air "...after placing the cup over your own mouth please assist any christian children, or elderly christians next to you with their "prayer cups"...Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and Mormons...please just hold your breath...have a pleasant flight and thank you for flying Jesus is Love Airlines

Vilepagan;

LMAO :D

Ugababe;

Lets say your "trapped" 30,000 feet in the air, and the pilot comes on and says "If you are not a pagan you need to become one, for those that are pagan talk to the others it is time for them to learn about the sun god."

To add to Vilepagan's and mad dog's comments about what the pilot would be saying.....you should also add "....duhh...Although I do tend to black out at higher elevations, uhh...I will not let this affect my evangelizing performance today.....duh...."

Vile, you also forgot to add the talk about the condiments. Who could resist a bag of honey-roasted hosts, or Christian Love Nuts, or a tall fizzing glass of diet holy water?:D:D

Oh, and don't forget the in-flight movie, which is 3 hours of nothing but those commercials that advertise the religious cartoons, or that old guy who tries to get people to sponsor children in third world, poverty-stricken countries.

DAMN I CAN'T WAIT TILL I GET TO FLY AGAIN!!!! WOOO-YEAH!!!!

haha. I love Jon Stewart. fucking gemius.

what I don't understand i how it couldn't bother you. I would have a problem with anyone botheringn me about anything on a flight. when I'm fyling, especially longer trips, I like to curl up with my ipod and sleep, not talk to random strangers, whether it's about religion or not. the religion part just makes it worse.

First of all I didn't pay to hear people preach to me about religions. I paid to fly somewhere. If the guy sitting next to me happens to be a priest and wants to talk about religion, I got unlucky, or I would just argue with him for the whole flight. But it's a different matter if the airline is supporting that. Thats not the purpose of the airline, unless it's 'Christian Air' or something, but again, I didn't pay for that.

I REALLY don't care if it's disrespectful or not...I don't have to listen to it and if I don't want to I just won't! And yes I am a Christian but I have no intentions of acting like one...I believe in the Bible and everything it says but right now I'm not striving to be a good Christian...hope that clears things up!

You claim to be a christian but say you don't want to act like one....what in your mind makes someone a christian?

Didn't Jesus want people to walk the walk and not just talk the talk?

1:n : a religious person who believes Jesus is the Christ and is a member of a Christian denomination [syn: Christian] 2: following the teachings or manifesting the qualities or spirit of Jesus Christ [ant: unchristian]

By your own words, #1 applies...at least you said you were a Christian but #2? I think the antonym is a better definition of who/what you really are. Furthermore, since you have no intention of acting like a Christian, you better build up your treasure chest here on earth because you will have no jewels in heaven. Have a nice day:)

I just got an idea! If you produce an anthology of ugababe's quotes on AFN, you can put it in the Humor section in any major bookstore and it'll make a killing. There are so many great "ugababe quotes" here ever since she became member in December! It'd be nice to read sitting on the toilet (good entertainment value), of course perhaps one of those days you'd rip a page off and wipe with it. Just think! Ugababe is remarkable in that almost one in every three sentences she utters is worth quoting into a humor book. Or perhaps used as a Ph.D thesis for sociology--"The Self-Destructive Power of Ignorance and Self-Contradiction." Or for Medical research--"Baby Brain in 22 Year Old Head, The Implications".
