Im a horro fan myself and my personal favorite is the HALLOWEEN series...
Did you see Rob Zombie's - House of 1000 courpes?? I like it.. It had the same basic story line as Texas Chainsaw Massacre though.

If you like Stephen King and haven't seen it yet. See Rose Red. Oh my gosh. It scared the crap out of me. I love a good ghost story like. Rose Red, Thirteen Ghost, Six Scenes (sp)

I haven't seen it, but a lot of my friends said they were disappointed in it cause it was too much gore and not enough "real scare" to them...and I guess Mr. Zombie's got plans for a sequel in the not-too-distant future

"Alien" is my favorite.
Steven King's horror stuff never translated well to the big screen, IMO.

That's exactly what I read about movies based on King novel. They are supposedly quite atrocious.

Joey:
I agree. Although you are really laughing through them instead of getting scared. It's the only horror series that successfully created a likeable hero (on the good side) who has real screen presence. But it's probably because of this that Evil Dead couldn't scare people. It would have turned into some zombie killing John Wayne series had they continued on after Evil Dead 3. (which, I really wouldn't mind as long as Bruce Campbell still plays Joe) Contemporary horror films instead make victims stupid and vulnerable so audience might be scared...no more superhero in horror films!

Evil Dead 2 and 3 were kind of comical, but I thought the first Evil Dead was pretty damn scary. Of course it's a little dated now, with the 80s hair and clothes ;), but it's still a creepy movie.

Don't forget about the old classics. Frankenstein, Dracula, The Mummy, The Wolf Man. Maybe not scary by today's standards but still just a fun kind of spooky.:bike:

Rose Red left me wondering what just happened? I am a King fan but have never really liked any of the movies from his novels.
Anyway I guess I would say that a movie most considered a copy is one of my favorites.
Feardotcom.
I thought the ring missed the boat but feardotcom actually made the connection between the reason and the revenge. Plus Steven Rhea is a good actor, Dorff is adequate.

I really enjoyed watching "The Ring". I'm looking forward to see the next part.
Also the Stephen King films are great even when the books are better.
And not to forget, Alien, Scream and a few more.
