View Full Version : Porn or God?

This question goes to all of you on the forum who find it "offensive" if religion were to be taught in school.
Which offends you more? People who preach their beliefs of God, or the overabundance of accessiblity to pornography our society has, in today's world?
Your thoughts are appreciated.

Depends on the type of porno. Nothing wrong with the human body. Hard-core, however, is definitely more offensive.

Why is porn bad? and if it's accessible is that a bad thing too?
I am greatly offended by unknowns being presented as fact.

On porn:
Because I don't have children and am not planning on ever have one, pornography and its accessibility is pretty much not a concern of mine. But truthfully, even if I do have children, it's hard to say if I'll be very concerned about pornography anyway. Also, if you went and saw my topic in "Chat Central", you see that as far as I know, porn is not as accessible today in the US as in many other countries. I view pornography as a form of legible entertainment for adult, including the hardcore ones.
Anyway. Unless the country has a national religion, a particular religion shouldn't be taught at a public school. They should teach comparative religion. People who preach their belief in God offends a little. People who make no sense in their arguments are more annoying.

One more thing; both religion and porn are avaliable, yet only religion is tolerated in school.

I think a wrestling match is more offensive than both porn and people flaunting religion combined. But flaunting religion with no regards or cares into what anybody else thinks is far more offensive than porn. Uh, especially since I see nothing offensive about porn period, as long as it isn't rape.

I don't find either one offensive on it's own. I would say both are equally offensive when you're subjected to them involuntarily. I don't want someone preaching their version of religion to me when I answer my doorbell, but neither would I want them ringing my bell and then trying to sell me porn.
It is odd that our society thinks it's fine to peddle God door-to-door but if you tried to sell porn that way you'd probably get arrested. Yet when you do a Google search you find out what the people want.
God= 60,400,000 hits
Religion= 29,100,000 hits
Porn= 98,500,000 hits
Sex= 271,000,000 hits

First off Children do not need porn in school, school is for learning not sex. I would rather my kids see someone holding a Bible then holding a mag. with pictures of some chick spanking herself. When "children" become adults then what they do is their business, but sex mag. have no business in school. The Bible should not be forced onto any kids either this is a family issue not the schools.

I am going to add something here:
Badly made porn featuring ugly, un-fit women who can't act worth crap and shoot by cameramen who don't even know how to get good angle, or a terrible story, or boring repetitive proceeding during sex scene, are more offending than many and many other things in life. Well made porn with beautiful women (with milf getting popular today, we no longer neccessarily add "young", although I'd prefer), nice body who are capable of carrying themselves in sexy, intriguing, skilled, fun, and such desirable ways (you can't delieve how few manage), have good sex scene paired with foreplay, little story, little cute talk after sex, shoot by a good cameramen and edited by people who can actually edit-----now this kind of porn is simply better entertainment than most other things. Just my thought.

Yup, its easier to sell because there is more demand for it. There is more demand for it because its what people want.

Children don't need porn in school, they don't need religion in school either. Many parts of religion I would not mind being taught to children, such as most of the ethics and morals. But presenting unsubstantiated 'facts' to children is wrong. I don't care if it's religion or politics, its wrong.
Also, I do not mind anatomy and sex being taught in school. There is nothing wrong with that

I don't se anything wrong with porn. it's not something I personally choose to view, but it's all a personal thing, everyone has the choice, and theirs no denying that kids my age watch it all the time. neither religion nor sex belong in the classroom. they should be taught, be cause they are importnat things to learn about, but neither should actually be present.

Why exactly do you think it's wrong ugababe? I don't think porn should be viewed by kids either but as a general rule that's not who it's produced for. I've seen porn stars who were definitely NOT ugly, and I'll bet most of them have no trouble getting a date on saturday night. Why do you feel it's horrible, sad, and gross? If you love to laugh and joke then why do you take offense at humor on this forum? One of the most important things about having a good sense of humor is the ability to laugh at ones self. It seems that any attempt at humor you take personally and respond with insults...lighten up ugababe, you're just not that important.

You know, Lionel, a lot of hardcore rappers and gansters are supposed to be hardcore Christians too. (self-proclaimed, kissing the cross from time to time and say prayer to thank God for giving me the chance to do two girls at the same time) They thank God for giving them the talent and luck to make so much money so now they can do whatever the hell they wanted. I wonder if they think it's some kind of hobby. Convenient. It's like, I can be a hardcore Christian, but besides thanking God, I'll go on and commit every sin known to Christianity. :D

You don't like a lot of people. Also, even I have laughed along with people I don't like a few times. I seem to recall a couple times on this board Trav and I (and a couple others) were getting along really well. And I NEVER get along with Trav.

In an attempt to get this thread back on topic I'm posting the last post before the thread degenerated into an argument with ugababe. Ironically, or perhaps not, it was ugababes last on topic post that ended with an insult, thus precipitating a downward spiral. I will post it here with the insult deleted, and then will add a post of my own. Now ugababe, if you're interested in continuing the discussion, try to remember that you are actually talking to real live people who don't like to be insulted any more than you do. If possible, may I respectfully suggest you avoid words like stupid, retarded, and immature, or any other words or phrases to that effect, when referring to other posters or their posts.

Well ugababe, ugly is in the eye of the beholder, so what you consider ugly someone else may consider beautiful. I still don't see how you can equate being a porn star with being a serial killer, since they both aren't even crimes. I'm sure you're aware my wise-crack about republicans was just that, a wise-crack. I'm sorry you didn't think it was funny and I'm truly sorry if you were offended in any way by my uncalled-for remark. I would also like to apologize to any of your friends and/or family who might be serial killers for my unfair comparison of them with republicans. ;)

Current news question that is kinda related to this thread. During the halftime show at the Super Bowl, Janet Jackson performed a duet with Justin Timberlake. After the song was over, Justin was carressing Janets lovely body and grabbed ahold of her top and ripped it off exposing her right breast. Anyone else find it offensive that this would be shown at 8 pm on national tv? Keep in mind that i do not find showing the naked female form offensive when viewed by adults, but i had my 7 year old nephew on the couch watching along with me and i had to explain why "that girl is nekkid on tv".

I missed it too. I saw something briefly on the news about it but really wasn't paying attention. Was it an accident or deliberate?
To be honest HaVok, I think the U.S. is one of the most sexually regressed societies on the planet. There is nothing wrong with nudity and even children can be "exposed" to it without psychological damage. When we teach them it is wrong or bad I feel we do them a disservice. I'm not suggesting that children should watch people having sex, but nudity is perfectly natural and I believe we do more harm than good in teaching kids that there is something bad about seeing the naked human body.
Personally I think Kid Rock's performance was more offensive. Whoever told that guy he has talent?

I was watching that. It kind of looked like he did it on purpose. perhaps it will help my little sister fall otu of love with the ugly brute. but she did have a pasty on!!! if they show lil' Kim they can show Janet Jackson like that.and it was an MTV run half time show, so something like that should be expected. Kid Rock's performance was horrendous. If you wnat gross, uga, go llok at him, not porn stars. atleast they make an honest living. plus, wasn't he breaking some law by cutting up an American flag and wearing it as clothing?

From what my dad said about it, they had the signed get go from the big wigs. But afterwards MTV said it was a costume malfunction, and "appologized". Plus, there was a star there, if it wasn't planed, do you think there would be a star?
There is a law against what Kid Rock did. But I highly doubt "patriots" care, he was being "patriotic". Inbred trailer-trash like Kid Rock probably didn't know what he was doing.

A christian possessing the slighest hate toward anything or anybody is not practicing the religion right, I thought. Of course, no one can do it perfectly, but you should at least try.
Also, religion is a very popular tool for people to use to feel superior to others. People who do this simply get satisfaction by thinking to themselves that they are better than non-followers--it's like good students vs bad students at a school mentality. It is also not something a person who's practicing a religion correctly should do.
