The finest cake I've ever eaten is called a Hummingbird Cake. It's wonderful. Think of a carrot cake consistency, but done with bananas, pineapple, pecans & walnuts, to add to the body of the cake, topped with a cream cheese frosting.
Another delight is a cream cheese poundcake.

Try dump cake it is very easy.
1 box yello cake mix (any brand)
1 stick butter (still hard)
1 can crushed pineapple (drained)
1can cherry pie filling
2-4 oz chopped pecans (which ever amount you prefer)
1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream
pour pineapple and cherries into a 9'13 in. baking dish and mix together. sprinkle cake mix over top(leave lumps!) sprinkle pecans over cake mix. slice butter in pieces thin enough to pretty much cover the top (it does not have to be perfectly covered). bake at 350 F for 30-45 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly on edges. serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
