Ok to be honest this is a post I started on another board, but I thought I'd bring it hear to get a discussion going. I hope this gets some chatting going on here. :-)
The purpose of this topic is to discuss the mountains we make out of mole hills. For example....
Today I get up, turn on the computer and it boots up but I hear a weird chirping sound.. Thought it was a figment of my imagination at first.. Then I not only see the Windows XP welcome screen, but I hear the PC speaker beep too.. usually hearing a beep from the speaker is very bad news. I click on something once, I get a whole bunch of copies of that one thing I clicked on, just once. First thought.. My mouse is messing up. Well it's a USB mouse so I unplug it, plug it back in..Works fine. I reboot the computer.. It chirps again, load up windows, mouse is acting up.. So I unplug it plug it back in..Same thing, unplug again, plug into a different USB port.. Works fine. Restart the computer again, reset the bios.. Then the chirping go's away at first.. Until I see the Welcome screen.. BEEP! First thought.. Dang! Must be a virus. I wait about a minute and a half because that seems to be when I get control of my computer again. I go to www.norton.com attempt to download their virus scanner.. Takes forever to download then.. I find out the version I downloaded doesn't work with Windows XP. DOH! So I power down the computer.. Started thinking.. What if I unplug my keyboard.. So I unplugged the keyboard and everything started up like normal.. Then I'm thinking dang keyboard, peice of crap! I power everything down and plug it back in, works fine. Guess I went through a little too much just to discover my keyboard wasn't properly seated in it's port. LOL
So anyone else have any such horror stories? :-)
