Of all the scientific discoveries we have made, cloning has become impossible to a possible state. But how far should we take it. Cloning people is like playing God. Everyone has been given one chance to live but now we might be able to live forever. I think it's wrong. We have 6 billion people as it is. Do we really want more? Say we do have a law that states we can't clone people, but i bet there will be that one person that will go on their own or go to another country and give that info out. Right now they just want to clone people to research diseases and how to cure them but what be next?

It sounds cool, but then again, it would change things, with certainty...hmm...

I want to drift off and talk about stem cell research. I agree with it. People with cancer and various diseases would be able to live a normal life. As far as cloning goes I'm not sure I will read more up on it to further understand it.
Cloning of actual humans is probably wrong, but what if they could make a new president if ours got killed?? Thats far off sense clones still have to grow up, but it may become a reality one day.. Im not sure exactly whats moral in this issue, but theres pros and cons.
As far as stem cell research goes, I say go for it.

WOULD WE REALLY WANT ANOTHER BUSH?????? HELL NO
I would say yes, and so did the people, thats another topic though.... The point is we could bring back any president in office, etc if they were killed the world wouldn't even have to know.. The country wouldn't have to suffer at all, of course Im not saying its moral, just a thought...

Yeah I'm all for stem cell research but cloning humans seems a bit screwed up.

To recreate Bill Clinton down the line is a scary thought, so it trying to clone any other dead person, thats gross.
Stem cell to help people live longer healthier lives is a good thing, another one of me running around is not a good thing!

Didnt they say something along those same lines in China too... just around the time it went Comie...

Now on to my retort
I dont think we should *BAN* Cloning as much as i think we should just police it. i mean, i wouldnt complain if they Cloned Locke, Tesla, or Demosthenese. hey even So-Crates(Love to say it that way ^-^) anyway, if they do clone people it should be restricted. I mean, I dont want some one going around all Hister like. and cloning infants for StemCell research may sound cruel and terrible but it would be useful for the rest of us.
anyways, i hope Cyris will answer my Questions and my arguments take into consideration.

Okay not everyone has been given a chance to live but it's a gift of life to experience, it'd be nice to live forever and forever but wouldn't you like to say after one life that's all you need.

Whose god?

Not everyone believes in God but everyone believes in something or someone that made life possible.

Your probably right but without cloning, we're on our way of taking up every single space of this planet, then what are we going to do next?

Your right it should be restricted and i'm not to informed on stemcell research (maybe you can provide some info) to really give out my opinion. To clone a life to destroy is that murder?

Thank you for you questions and maybe you might take my arguments into consideration.

I think this subject is one that most are not educated about. Luckily I just took a class exploring the benefits and detriments cloning could bring.
First of all, an identical Bush would be impossible to make. Physically, it would be possible, but his mental state would undoubtedly be different. In fact, things might go so wrong as to turn him in to a president that does things based on good judgement, and NOT what will get him higher approval ratings! Wouldn't that be scary...so anyways, cloning a president and having backups would not be possible.
Secondly, many people are unaware that most scientists in favor of cloning are not in favor of seeing millions of identical clones walking the streets, but would like to discover the wonders of growing essential human organs from stem cells. This would save so many lives and require no actual living being. Waiting lists for organs could become obsolete.
So whatever view you take on cloning, good for you. But before you refuse it and label it sick and god-like, know the good it can provide to society.

Although I disapprove of cloning, I would like to clear up a common misconception about it: the one in the quote above.
Just because you duplicate a physical body does not mean that that person will end up having the same personality and intellectual ability as the "original." If I were to be cloned and the clone lived with another family, that person would undoubtedly turn out different than I have.
Hah. I heard a story about one guy who paid millions of dollars to have his dog cloned, because he wanted the dog to live longer. That is a ridiculous idea; that dog would be completely different from the "original" other than in its superfluous physical appearances.

They would have the same genetic make up they would look exactly like you and have the same personality.

No. This is evidenced by the fact that identical twins and triplets, although physically identical, can have very different personalities if they have different experiences in life.

Except a clone isnt a twin its a replica.
LHelix

There is no practical difference. A clone has the same genes as the original, and (identical) twins have the same genes.
