This is absolutely classic:

I'm a big fat moron (http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-tv12.html)

A Wisconsin man is blaming a cable TV company for his television addiction, his wife's 50-pound weight gain and his children being "lazy channel surfers."

A police report said Timothy Dumouchel, 48, of West Bend, Wis., came to the Fond du Lac office of Charter Communications the night of Dec. 23 with a small claims complaint, intimidated an employee and made "low-level threats."

Dumouchel told Charter he filed the complaint because his cable connection kept working 3-1/2 years after he asked that it be cut off.

"I believe that the reason I smoke and drink every day and my wife is overweight is because we watched TV every day for the last four years," Dumouchel wrote in the complaint in the police report.

Initially, Dumouchel said he would sue the cable company but later backed off. Still, he claims that the cable company "did not let me make a decision as to what was best for myself and my family and [they have been] keeping cable [coming] into my home for four years after I asked them to turn it off."

The police report said Dumouchel asked Charter to stop his cable service in August 1999 and was taken off the billing but not the service.

He told police he called several times to get the cable disconnected, but the free cable kept coming.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel said he was asked by a group of reporters why he did not just cut the wire into his home. "I would never touch that box, because if I did, I would have to break the seal, and then I would have broken the law," he said.

The cable company seemed to shrug off Dumouchel's complaints. Said Charter spokesman John Miller: "Even though we consider our services to be a very powerful entertainment product, I don't think it's reached a medical level yet where it could be proved to be addictive." AP

It's sad how people are always blaming their stupidity on someone else. It's very interesting sometimes though, just to see how dumb people are.

Poor guy, he was forced to watch TV by the cable company. He was probably forced to eat at Mc D's also because they are just across the road. He had a drinking and smoking problem because the con. store is on his way home from work, he needs to get out there and sue, sue, sue .............

This is the stuff our society needs to start punishing people for. Frivolous law suits that obviously are only greedy attempts to attain "free" money. Give the guy 60 days in the hole with a couple fellas that like their dumplings a little chubby and i guarantee you he would lose a little weight. And never file a frivolous law suit again.

Are you suggesting that he engage in homosexual conduct? I'm shocked HaVok! Don't you know that it's against God's law? :D

Seriously HaVok, no doubt his decision to not file suit was influenced by a lawyer who told him his suit was totally without merit and would end up costing him a bundle in lawyers fees and court costs.

ok....people of AllForums.....friends and strangers alike....we should be asking this guy...

IS IT THAT HARD TO JUST GO UP TO YOUR TV AND TURN IT OFF?!?!?!

Seriously, if you were that concerned about having TV in your house, why not just sell the TVs? that way you won't be able to watch it, and you won't have to blame everything on someone else when its your own stupidity acting in the first place! Someone should start an awards show and award the most frivolous and stupid lawsuit of the year. This one would surely be a candidate.

Because the people at Sanyo are responsible for making reliable TVs that always worked when he wanted to watch. And the people at Wal-Mart are responsible for selling TVs so cheaply that it would be easy to afford another one. More lawsuits!

Lawsuit, complaint...they're practically the same anyway.

As for Lionel's comment, let's blame Sanyo for making TV's, blame Wal-Mart for having them sit out for anyone to come in and watch them, then blame the programming...hey, its America, freedom to complain.

Well I'm suing the toilet companys, what ever happened to squating? The toilet companies have made me more lazy because I can sit on a comfortable seat and read a paper while taking a sh**. I'm also going to sue my old hair dryer company because they never put a label on my dryer that said I couldn't use it while I was in the shower. Oh that reminds me, there is no tag on my TV about using that in the shower either.

People like ugababe should sue their parents for their low-intelligence genes that she inherited. :D
