Just like the title says. Also note that you can hate to play a sport but like to watch, or vice versa, or hate to play and hate to watch. Please make a note of which it is if that's important in your response.

Because the fans of all kinds of sport are out there, it is probably daunting for anyone to reply to this topic in fear of getting flamed...well,
I will share a bit of my opinion first. Without going into one of the more popular sports and get flamed by their advocates (and I dislike quite a few of the more popular sports out there), I have to say I really don't like bowling. And I hate watching it a lot more than playing it. The reason is simple, watching bowling to me is like watching a basketball game where the players take turns to shoot free throws and do nothing else. There is no dynamic actions and very little decision making, you just try to make one shot perfect, which is boring to me if I can only watch (however playing is okay). You can almost find no sport more restricted in the player's choice and action. It might be the most physically repetitive sport I think there is.

Bowling is definitely boring to watch, although playing it is sort of amusing if you have enough beer and are playing with people as bad as you are. I hate baseball and golf. Both are boring and seem to have the most obsessive fans of any sport.

It happens in soccer. I would say soccer fans are more obsessive.
Which brings me to my answer to this post. I respect the fact that it takes a lot of stamina to be able to run up and down a soccer field for such a long time. However, i just cannot, for the life of me find any interest whatsoever in playing the game (no stamina:D ) or watching the game (boring)).

I also think baseball is boring. For roughly the same reason. It's just not very exciting to watch.

Golf, ick. Soccer, ick. Hockey, ick. Basketball, ICK!
Baseball and football are the only sports I watch anyway.

That's not obsessive, that's obnoxious. I'm talking about fans who spend all of their lives memorizing stupid stats like how many times a left-handed pitcher has struck out a switch hitter with two on in the bottom of the 5th in the second game of the world series. Or people who spend thousands of dollars on golf magazines, golf clubs, sweater vests, and Tiger Woods putting videos. Plus they're out golfing every time the temperature gets over 30.

i love to play basketball and football but i'm not a big fan of watching them.
i hate watching golf and bowling and i'm not a big fan of playing them. well, i've never played golf. but i'm not a big fan of mini golf. and i could see how bowling might be fun if you're drunk, but unfortunately i'll have to reach drinking age to find out for sure. or i'll have to wait until college. or maybe senior year of high school if i REALLY can't wait to find out if drunk bowling is fun.
but baseball, i love to play it AND watch it. and lionel, i am one of those obsessive people. i can tell you for example, off the top of my head, that the mets made 212 errors in 1962, and rod kanehl, the mets utility inf/outfielder made 32 of them. marv throneberry, the '62 mets semi-famous 1st baseman, made 17 of those errors. i'm just a Little bit crazy about the mets.

Baseball is my favorite sport. I have loved it my entire life. Played it all throughout my youth and loved every minute i ever had out on a ballfield. I play softball now to try to keep in touch with that feeling. That said, i am an avid Yankee fan, and i couldnt tell you how many errors the team made last year, much less from a year before iwas born. Hell, i would have a hard time telling you who won the World Series 5 years ago. :D However, i do have a lot of baseball buddies who are just like you Sputnik. I think its kinda neat that they can tell me obscure statistics from ages past right up to the present day. Of course, this skill wont get the ladies. :D

Definitely soccer, way too boring. There's another reason but I would get jumped on in like 5 seconds for being racist!

Oh yeah, I hate basketball. I never could figure out why was exciting about running back and forth trying to throw a ball through a hole hanging on a pole.

To me, I love golf...playing it, that is. Watching it just bores the hell out of me.
For a while I found baseball to be boring too, but I'm starting to regain some interest in that.
Basketball...well, same story for that.
World Series of Poker? That's where I learned how to play no limit hold'em
Does anybody watch the Great Outdoor Games on ESPN? I think that's pretty interesting.

Basketball, soccer, golf & tennis are probably my least favorites, especially to watch. Curling is one that doesn't make a lick of sense, but isn't bad to watch -- every 4 years when the Olympics are on.

ahh yes, curling. perfect for a bootleg canadian like me. i had a great time watching it during the '02 olympics, even though i hadn't the slightest clue what was going on.
