Maybe yer idear of drinking is what a Movie Comedy portrays.
Only drink what you like and when you feel like it.
Don't feel the need to prove anything.
Some very respectable Journalists drink every day.
Maybe just a lone Martini after work.
Drinking needn't be a chore.
However, peer pressure does seem to play a role.
That's when the old 2-fisted rule comes into play.
Tell whomever is tryin to shove drinks yer way,or how and what
ta drink to put their Dukes up.

Any Whisky and Coke is sheer stupidity.
I know it's damn near addicting.Coke is addicting.
Even Rum & Coke is a bad drink.
Coke or cola is just a bad mix.It may appear to be appealing
but not the next day.
Yer mixin too much alcohol & sugars. Will dehydrate and also
cause interference with foods.
One benefit of an Aperitif is it's ability to help break down
foods thru production of bile.

I've railed for years about the inherent evils of drinking Coke.
One coke a day is not what i'm talking about. But the biggest
habit a teenager will develop is soda pop,as an hourly fix.
Once that fix is established,it is damn near impossible to cure.
Add a likin for cigarettes to the mix,and that teen is RUINED for life.
I've seen it applied { a standard for many low income teens } that
it's become an American Dream.A Dream that ends in poor health
and Poor Nutrition and Poor ability to focus to Poor facility
to perform in a competitive world w/o said fix.
Very...very sad.What Coke-a-cola has mainstreamed.
Kids that are mere sugar-fixed dependents. And Kids that slowly
turn into adults. If an Adult can be defined as someone who can't
Live w/o an hourly fix of Soda.

Trust me, I know how to negate a hangover very very well. I don't get them anymore really. Maybe a little headache but that's at worst. I mix water in there every few drinks for one, and I drink lot's of water before I drink. Also, never drink on an empty stomach. The Korean street vendors have the best drunk food I have EVER had. Cheese sticks, chicken fingers, yakimandu, shrimp, all fried up right there. It's delicious when you are hammered. We always get a bunch of that stuff half way through our sessions. It replaces all the salts in your body, lol.

Seems not alot of people know about the drinking lots of water before, during and after getting good and smashed. If I'm going to be drinking more than a few drinks I always make sure I have lots of water on hand too. Then wath the next day as everyone around me is hung over. :D
I've made the mistake of not eating and drinking all day.....boy did I pay for that one bigtime. I've never done that again.

mmmm....I love Mead. I was given a bottle of homemade Raspberry Mead for my birthday a couple years ago....funny how it turned up missing around the same time my younger brother did.
I very rarely drink anymore and I never drink around my kids anymore either. They've watched their dad and his step-dad drink till they pass out every night and some of those nights both would become abusive and pull out guns and shit.
I may want a beer or some wine every now and again, but I can wait until I go out or they aren't home to have it if I want to.

What most folk don't understand is that 86 octane isn't
weaker a gas than 93.They just are formulated to COMBUST at
different levels.86 at 86% of compression as in 8:6:1 and
93 at 9:3:1 or higher. That is why Harley needs get a good spankin.
Their V-twin Motorcycle engines AREN'T high compression.
The V-rod,yes.But they've managed to use that little marketing
lie to convince their flock of Buy Only American that using a higher
octane or premium gas means a better or stronger engine.
LionelHutz

Higher octane will better resist premature detonation in a higher compression engine, but octane level is in no way directly connected with compression ratio - i.e. there are plenty of high compression engines that run happily on 87 octane. 86 octane is not specifically meant for engines with a 8.6:1 compression ratio.

You absolutely wrong. When they make gas they use a 1 piston
engine or single cylinder to determine when " knocking " occurs/
The more knocks the lower the octane mixture.
The higher the compression the engine, the more it will need a
higher octane.Yes,a high compression engine may seem to run fine
w/o knocking on low grade 86-87 octane.
But Octane is determined by compression levels.Premium gas
burns slower. If a regular car that should run on regular gas
uses too mush premium,it may detune and will develop problems
starting in colder temps due to a slower burn.
The lower the octane the faster the burn because low compression
engines burn gas at a faster rate as in 87% compression vs.
90 + for high compresion engines. The stroke of a piston reaches
87 % before 90%,in other words.The spark of a cylinder should
met the gas/air at the desired compression.

you're not even close (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating).
The octane rating is a measure of the autoignition resistance of gasoline and other fuels used in spark-ignition internal combustion engines. It is a measure of anti-detonation of a gasoline or fuel.
Octane number is the number which gives the percentage, by volume, of iso-octane in a mixture of iso-octane and normal heptane, that would have the same anti-knocking capacity as the fuel which is under consideration. For example, gasoline with the same knocking characteristics as a mixture of 90% iso-octane and 10% heptane would have an octane rating of 90.
Foolsworth

you're not even close (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating).
All well and good but yer forgetting one dynamic.
Engines combust according to their compression ratio.
A high compression engine will detonate { knock, ping } when
used with low octane fuel.Even if the knocking is negligible.
The octane at a pump isn't stronger or have more hydrocarbons, they
just ignite at different levels, thus a compression table.
But with most cars having fuel injection the fuel sensors measure
and control most of those unburned hydrocarbons.
