I thought it was okay, (slightly boring with some funny moments), but was disappointed after all the critical hype it got.....5/10.

You know what bothered me about this movie? It's the fact that the movie idolizes people who grossly exagerrate. While exagerration might be fun and appropriate for entertainment value, the character in this movie was doing so in earnest. The danger of doing this is, of course, that some people will believe you. Basically, I found the character's behavior unethical and the movie treated his behavior as if it were charming.

Lighten up, Leper! It was a movie made for entertainment, not ethical discussion.
Went to see this particular film about a week ago. Wasn't bad, Probably worth the wait for it to hit Blockbuster though.

Sorry, but I can't help watching that movie and imagining thousands of morons extracting the message that refusing to accept reality or lying is fun and/or socially acceptable.

Lying is socially acceptable - we've tolerated that from politicians, lawmakers, lawyers and of course, the clergy just about since mankind started keeping records.

I loved this movie. It was a great dramedy with slight action, great actors, and a great story. How can you go wrong with a Forrest Gump story headed by the master of fantasy: Tim Burton. Sure it was a really strange movie, but it was a great strange movie. Even the romance fit the story well, and I'm not a sucker for romance in stories. Go see it. It is probably the first great movie of 2004.
