View Full Version : Theft.
I had to call the police today, someone stole my boat. The police said they'd send a car. It was no emergency so I went back to my yardwork. A policeman showed up within 10 minutes. I was happily surprised. We talked a bit, once he had all the information he asked me if I realized that the boat was most likely already at a recycler. I knew that already and agreed, I just wanted to make the report. The theft had to have happened in the last week. I did appreciate the quick and courteous service. Kudos to you Police.
Although I know none of you good people would never do such a thing as steal from someone, I really need to vent. I have an open letter that the paper most likely wouldn't print.
I would like to address the thieving, no good, low-life son-of-bitch that decided to enter my yard and steal my fishing boat. You most likely won't use if for it's intended purpose as your too damn stupid to do so without drowning. No, you'll most likely just take it to recycler because it is nothing but aluminum to you. Here is what is to me. A reminder of the grandfather who bought it so that he and his grandson, me, could go fishing. You've also stolen the opportunity for me to take my daughter out in it this summer. It wasn't worth much, possibly nothing to most folks. But to me it something special, I've saved it for years, even when I could have gotten rid of it. I've used it a few times when I could. I was planning on fixing it up and using it this summer, as I finally have a job that will allow me the time to do so. But no, you have intruded and destroyed my plans and stolen part of my childhood. I really don't give a damn if you did it because you need to eat, pay your rent, your crack dealer, your whore, or whatever. I don't care, about you or your problems. As bad as it gets, stealing is not the answer. It took you and a fellow thieving, no good, low-life son-of-bitch to take it because it was heavy and you managed to hike it over a fence. Due to this, I hope you and your fellow thieving, no good, low-life son-of-bitch do try to use it and both drown. Then if the authorities call and say they found my boat with two dead thieving, no good, low-life son-of-bitches nearby, I will happily wash your stink out of the boat and life will be grand. Piss off and die.
p.s. I also have grandpa's shotgun, I'd be happy to show that to you, but you'll be looking from the business end.
Thanks to everyone for reading, I feel a little more calmed down now. I'll get off my soapbox now.

it's not a new problem. homes in depressed cities have been getting stripped of aluminum siding for years, and recently, vacant homes have been stripped of their wiring and plumbing too. as metals prices increase, it just becomes more profitable. the City of Flint requires a license to sell scrap metal to scrap dealers, but they lack the resources for enforcement.:(

Bummer about the boat. It's infuriating to have anything taken from you without your consent. I trust Grampa's ghost will do the right thing, and lead those idiots back to visit his shotgun.
I'll be your alibi

This sucks about your boat... And Mikezila is right about the stealing of metal stuff. My step-mom is the office manager at an electrical contractor, and they've had 3 vans broken into recently - the only thing taken was a bunch of wire.

I know how you're feeling. Took my wife & son to a movie one day, middle of the afternoon, good neighborhood, came out & the car was gone, never to be seen again. Another time the alarm comapany called me at work to let me know they had received an alarm & had called the cops - again the middle of the day. Never caught the culprits, never found the car. There have been other instances when I've been able to catch the cretin, but there have always been witnesses around to keep me from following through on my intentions at the moment.

Sorry to hear about the boat, 007. I'm curious - was the boat registered or anything? You'd have to be a pretty crooked scrap metal dealer to take in a boat with a current registration sticker on it.
The metal theft is really getting out of control. Around here any truck, van, or other vehicle that sits high enough off the ground will have its catalytic converter cut off if the vehicle's sitting at a dealer or shop. I've heard a few poetic justice metal theft stories, though. Someone in Cincinnati electrocuted themselves trying to steal power wires and someone, I think in Cleveland, died when the house they were in collapsed on them. They were trying to steal a metal support beam in the house.

Copper is another big one that's being stolen. My kids grandmother was telling me about all the A/C units being stolen for the copper in them. It's damn crazy I tell you.

Here scrap cars are fetching $120 each-this time last year they lifted them for nothing.

That's a pretty big investment to have stolen from you. Sorry to hear about the loss.

Sorry about the boat, Mr. Bond. I know it's not just the boat but the memories that is the real loss.
Sorry about the boat, 007. That sucks.:(

Occasionally there will be a story in the news about these things (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manhole_cover_theft) being stolen, or the bolder thieves (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13160475/) have some real balls.
