Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain’s national campaign general co-chair was being paid by a Swiss bank to lobby Congress about the U.S. mortgage crisis at the same time he was advising McCain about his economic policy, federal records show. [See sidebar.]

“Countdown with Keith Olbermann” reported Tuesday night that lobbying disclosure forms, filed by the giant Swiss bank UBS, list McCain’s campaign co-chair, former Texas Sen. Phil Gramm, as a lobbyist dealing specifically with legislation regarding the mortgage crisis as recently as Dec. 31, 2007.

Gramm joined the bank in 2002 and had registered as a lobbyist by 2004. UBS filed paperwork deregistering Gramm on April 18 of this year. Gramm continues to serve (http://www.ubs.com/1/e/investors/annual_reporting2007/cgcr2007/0014.html) as a UBS vice chairman.

John McCain is so out of touch, it isn't even funny.
He is out of touch with what is happening in the middle east - He doesn't know the difference between shia and sunni and he thinks we have already drawn down to pre-surge troop levels. The scary part is that he has been corrected repeatedly on both those things by close advisors but then went out said them again.

He is out of touch with average Americans - John McCain owns eight homes, he and his mistress-turned-wife are reportedly worth $100 Million. He doesn't think the economy is an issue this year. Well I guess it wouldn't be if we were all worth $100 million.

The fact that he would be the oldest President ever elected is becoming more evident every day this campaign goes on.
