Authenticated Documents Put Pressure On Venezuela's Chavez to Explain Damning FARC Ties (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,356236,00.html)
BOGOTA, Colombia — The onus is now on Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to explain evidence of his apparently intimate ties to Colombia's main guerrilla army.
Interpol on Thursday endorsed the authenticity of computer files seized in a rebel camp, announcing that Colombia did not tamper with documents indicating Chavez sought to finance and arm the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC.
Venezuelan officials set up contacts with Australian arms dealers and arranged for missile training in the Middle East, according to the documents, which were on computer hard drives seized by Colombia and obtained by the Washington Post.....

Which is more alarming and worrisome?
That some leader in a country far away, a country that has nothing to do with what goes on in America, has ties to the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia........or that the far Right leaders of our OWN country are the world's most successful and accomplished terrorists?
I'd say it seems obvious that it is the latter. Wouldn't you???

i'm more worried about a tin horn, drug running, despot financing narco-terrorists trying to overthrow a freely elected representative democracy.
call me old fashioned, but ppl that want to put bullets in ppl for not thinking the same way as them scare me a lot more than ppl that want to protect me from being beheaded.

Why does it matter? As long as someone is supposedly worse than Chavez we can continue ignoring what Chavez is up to?

a) No, that was not the impetus of the argument. I'd very much like to see this country and it's people paying close attention to some of the reforms Mr Chavez is making. Many of the things he's doing are very beneficial to the poor people of his country. And that terrifies the ConservaFascist faction presently running America. They do not want anyone noticing those aspects of Chavez's actions. Can't have the dimwitted herd here beginning to get ideas of democracy and populism. Bad for Corporate profits.
b) This country's government is in fact not **ignoring what Chavez is doing**. Far from it. They feel so threatened by him that they are moving to coerce other neighboring nations into installing American military bases, in an effort to engineer some sort of confrontation with Chavez, so as to --as they have done so many times in the past-- have some trumped up, contrived excuse to move against that country militarily.
c) It is not merely *someone* who is worse than Chavez. It is our own political leadership here in the Corporate States of America. That ought to worry people.

what has Chavez done for the poor in Venezuela besides ruin the country's economy so there's more of them?...oh, yeah, he gave them 20% inflation so they'd be poorer.
there's the glory of socialism for you-everyone gets to be equally poor, except of course for those in power.

Like trying to make himself Presidente for life? He's a power-hungry asshole. He doesn't give a shit about the poor in his country, except as a means to the end of furthering his own power.
