I usually do not listen to am talk shows but happened to hit one today that suggested that the cia should be disbanded because of its questionable past. Thought I would drop this on you guys and see what thoughts you may have.
I personally would like the old cia disbanded and replaced but I am not sure what would be the proper replacement. Any suggestions?

Replace it with what? The US needs its' spook factory. I could see a major shakeup happening, fewer political constraints, but that's about all.

ya, as everyone is griping about how much intelligence we are NOT getting, lets go ahead and disband the only INTEL gathering source we have, good call.

There is another spy org who's name escapes me at the moment. They do all of the electronic spying and such. Anyway, I don't see the point in having the CIA, FBI, and this other organization all separated. A lot of the problems we run into are caused by their refusal to work together. Make them one group and be done with it.

Electronic spying and actual infiltration by actual people are different. All of our spy agencies do differnet things, granted, they do a lot of the same too, but they all have their speciality. I think its a bad idea to create new mega-beauracracys, keeping them sperate presumably keeps them lighter and faster, less red tape, although we all know that even the smallest office of government is drowning in red tape. I say redce and stream line.

the CIA is about analysis and personal intel gathering. the NSA(lionel's myster organization) deals with signals intelligence. both organizations look at the rest of the world. the FBI is focused inside the US. the things outside the US that get brought in switch jurisdictions. to combine the three would be a waste of governement time, money and manpower, especially since it would be a huge distraction for the anti-terror units as well as the information gatherers out in the field.

You're thinkin' of the NSA; much bigger than the CIA!

your right, and with such reliable sources as always. So lets disband the CIA and leave our security and future up to the good intentions of OBL and his allies.

Thanks for the input. I am inclined to agree with the shake-up and reorganize.

If she had balls she'd actually come up with ideas instead of just complaining about the current situation - like you do, Shame.

ya, talking shit in a country with free speech is real ballsy. if she was such a "dissident" in china or cuba you may be onto something, but mearly invoking your rights is in no way courageous. this just shows how much of a soft sheltered life you have lead shaman, someone like garafolo is courageous to you, LOL. Courageous to me is a 20 year old squad leader leading patrols in midnight baghdad, big differance.

CIA, FBI, NSA, ONI, OSA, and on and on it goes...

But, hey, VARIETY provides the spies of life!

On the other hand, what Dubbya needs is more... intelligence... not more spies...

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh......so the $400K/year that Lil' Dumbya gets, is merely one o' those Bush-entitlements, huh?

How convenient it must be (for him), drawing that kind of check, and pointing-out that it's everyone else's obligation to come-up with effective/logical policy!!!!!
