I hope this album is better than Year Zero.

I think Year Zero is a great CD. I didn't like it much at first but it really grew on me.

The only song that grew on me from Year Zero was "Capital G".

edit: I take that back I also enjoy "Another Version Of Truth".

Are you guys kidding? The two best songs on year zero were "The Good Soldier" and "Me, I'm not"... those were the best BY FAR... I know taste has SOMETHING to do with it... but come on...

I'm still stuck on Pretty Hate Machine.

As far as Nine Inch Nails on the whole goes... they are one of my favorite bands, musically.

The message is sad, but yet it's nice because it's genuine. It was before being all messed up was "emo" and "cool"... I don't really listen to NIN for lyrical refuge though. It's all in the music.

Pretty Hate Machine had some good stuff, a very good opening album. My favorites from that album, besides the obvious "Head like a hole" and "Sin" were "Up above it", "hurt" (which OWNS Johnny Cash's remake BTW), and "Something I can never have", which is such a good song, i can't believe it hasn't gotten more acclaim.

The Downward Spiral, most people's favorite, is overrated, as far as NIN albums go. Of course it has "Piggy" and "Closer", along with some other solid tunes.

The Fragile is by far my favorite NIN CD. It's a two disc album, and has multiple musical tracks, along with almost every song being such a fabulous musical write. I sense very much depression, aggression, frustration, and sadness from the album, but yet at times it totally rocks out. There is a common tune played throughout a few songs, and NIN introduces the piano as a main voice for the first time.. a GREAT move. The entire left album (disc 1) is excellent. The right(disc 2) is solid.

"Still", an all piano remake of NIN songs by Trent Reznor, is a great re-invention of someone's own music. You never see anybody dare do this anymore, it's like U2 going from deep, echoey, soul music (Joshua Tree) to an uptempo, distorted sound (Achtung Baby) and then directly to a European Pop sound (Zooropa)... Bands need to reinvent themselves. They are musicians, they should be making music, not doing music videos or interviews or snorting coke.

With Teeth was a great album. Many fans I have come across didn't like it, but there are 5 definite keepers on there. The whole album isn't solid IMO, but my fav on there are:

1. All the Love in the World
2. Everyday is the exactly the same
3. Only
4. Sunspots
5. Bite the hand that feeds

Just my two cents on NIN

Yeah I saw them in the Civic Arena (now mellon arena) in pittsburgh like 12 years ago. The Jim rose circus opened for NIN.

The Fragile was also my favorite NIN album, I love so many songs from it.

The Fragile
The Day The Whole World Went Away
La Mer (I like a lot of Trent's instrumental stuff)
Into The Void
Starfuckers, Inc.
The Wretched

With Teeth was also a good album. Year Zero I never liked much, I felt like Trent was trying too hard to put across a political message instead of just focusing on putting out good music.
