I visited this vendor at the recent Green Festival in Seattle and would like to share it with you. This company makes paper products out of elephant dung! How environmentally friendly is that???? And elephant friendly too.
Check this out....

How much energy does it take to ship elephant crap from Sri Lanka?

Geez, this board isn't about being environmentally friendly or not being environmentally friendly, it's about a new way to make paper as opposed to cutting down trees. I put it in the "humor" section because it's different and kind of funny. It isn't about the environment, even tho I did say it was 'environmentally friendly' so please pardon me.
BUT - these are orphaned elephants living on an elephant farm and they are fed by humans so they don't eat any trees.
AND - I'm not 100% sure, but they probably don't ship elephant crap to the US, they make the paper before shipping. Even so, how much did it cost to ship your coffee you had this morning from Colombia, or the how much did it cost to ship your fruits or veggies from Mexico (etc.) or the toxic plastic toys from China?
Wow, maybe this board IS about what's environmentally friendly afterall.

Forget it. I'm done.

The paper they make is stationery paper, like note pads and such.

On the other hand, I dint read the whole websites o maybe they DO make toilet paper out of elephant dung.

This is what they do and there is no pention of terlet paper...
Our products are great for the environment.
We support the local Elephants and Sri Lankan peoples.
We are a "green" environmentally conscious company.
Mr. Ellie Pooh is a new eco-friendly, innovative company
that sells 100% handmade journals, stationery, crafts,
scrapbook/photo albums and various grades of paper
made of 75% Sri Lankan elephant dung (Ellie Pooh
Paper). Mostly, elephant orphanages supply our product
Pooh, while Maximus makes our exotic paper. Mr. Ellie
Pooh distributes throughout the U.S., Canada & Puerto
Rico.
All of our paper products are 100% recycled, 75% Pooh
and 100% fun.
There are no toxic chemicals used in our paper-making
process. Only basic bonding agents such as alum and
rosin, along with water soluble salt dyes for coloring are
used. No bleach. No Acids. As no alkaline or acid solutions
are introduced during manufacturing, our handmade
papers are of an ideal pH value for photography
preservation.
Not that anybody gives a rat's ass but I felt like posting that.
Adios
