I'm sure many posters,by now have heard about the fatal
Grizzly bear attack that happened the other day.
A Trained Grizzly, bite it's trainer in the neck, and opened the jugular.
The Trainer was found bleeding to death in the Cage.
I'm now listening to a PETA nut explin the reasons why there should
be NO Trained bears in Captivity. These Bears et. al. animals are
used in Film for their realization.
I've heard from 3 different Animal trainers, that this one San Bernadino
Animal Shelter facility was well managed and the animals well taken
care of.Animals, sometimes, let their instincts take over.
It's no different if a cat or a Dog,if one plays a little too rough.
I've personally seen many Humans on Springer, act more Grizzly
and harried than any doggone trained bear.
I lUv animals.
Had many kinds in my life.Even a rhesus monkey.
I doubt I'd ever have even a half-assed Springer guest,within the
confines of my fenced-in backyard.Even in Winter.
So there ... PETA.

Good for the Grizzly bear and piss in the captor. How dare anyone stuff a wild animal in a cage?
Heartless idiots, they should all be mauled.

Like a fellow animal trainer/preserve Manager said.
Those trained animals get fed and treated very well.
Being in a movie affords a lot of Steaks.
Better than most Springer types ever done get.
Of course most Springer types, are used ta Baloney.
Wise-up and be a Carnivore.
Veggies are almost always sickly anemic.

There's a thing called FREEDOM that is 100 times better than any meal could ever be. Bears don't want to be fed a steak, for cryin out loud. They are hunters.
When's the last time you've seen a grizzly having dinner at The Sizzler??
And once again, I haven't been a vegetarian for many years now.

This is so wierd. We were just talking about the death of Clyde Beatty, world famous big cat guy from Ringling Brothers, last night.
Clyde's death occured sometime in the 1940's (?). He was from Peru, Indiana, and was well -acquainted with my Grandpa's family, who was also from Peru.
Clyde had worked with big cats all his life and was especially kind with them. His cats would do anything for him. He had raised most of them from cubhood.
Clyde had been working some time with a female tigress who was obtained from another circus and was notoriously bad-tempered. At one point during training, he tripped and fell down in the cage.
When the tigress saw that, she sprang upon Clyde and a melee ensued, with half a dozen or more cats snarling and clawing each other, the tigress, and Mars, a magnificent male lion who had been Clydes' particular favorite.
Mars stood protectively over Clyde as he fought off the tigress in a battle for the ages.
Clyde sustained multiple terrible wounds and lingered for a few days in agony. In his delirium, he thought that Mars had attacked him.
his last words were, "I never thought Mars would turn on me like that."
Poor Clyde died thinking Mars had betrayed his friend. He never knew that Mars had fought to defend him.

:rant:You know, you say a lot of stupid shit. But to gleefully root for the killing of another human being simply because you dont agree with caging an animal? You have some fucked up priorities.

How well the bear is cared for does not matter. It was taken from the wild, from it's natural home, and reduced to a circus clown, doing tricks for nothing but entertainment. It can not hunt, it will not be free, never feel a river under it's feet or a fish between it's jaws. Bears are social despite what people believe. This one will never have a mate or see it's cousins again. I believe, however, that some animals and their trainers have special bonds. SOME. If that bear was abused AT ALL or that trainer ever did anything wrong the bear would never except an apology. Besides, playing or not, it is wrong to use a wild animal for entertainment. They belong to themselvess not to us. they are their own creature. This is the 21st century. Circuses are a thing of the past. Especially those holding wild animals captive. You can disagree with me and say oh i'm just a stupid animal lover or a crazy PETA member but i will not change that opinion. And I'm not a memeber of PETA. this animal had a right to stay in the wild.

Interesting story, Ren. Much better than Wikipedia's mundane telling.
"Clyde Beatty died of cancer in 1965 at the age of 62 in Ventura, California and was interred in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Hollywood Hills."

Darn---another urban legend bites the dust.
There was a similar story to this in some 1940's era-newspapers. Could be that was embellished as well.

let's be fair, let's put YOU in a cage, throw food at you once a day, and make you do tricks.

let's be fair, let's put YOU in a cage, throw food at you once a day, and make you do tricks. So whats your point? I didnt say it was the bear's fault or that is should be put down. It is a wild animal. But im not rooting for the thing to kill a human, either.

It makes me feel justice is served... as long as the animal was thrown in a cage and made to do stupid tricks or to be gawked at all day long.
We humans, the dominant species *gag*, have no freaking right whatsoever to enslave an animal for any reason. PERIOD. And if some dumbshitted human insists on doing that, he deserves being mauled or ripped to shreds. :D
I know that isn't the way most people think  , but I surely do and will not change my views for any reason.

wild animals are not clowns. we shouldn't enslave them. this bear was reduced to a unicycling joke. it was once majestic and roaming free where it was born and should stay. i personally would not want anyone to be killed though. snatching any animal for the sole reason to use it as entertainment in the 21st century? i dont find that at all very logical OR civilized.
