100% midland, supposedly. Although I don't think I sound the same as people from Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, etc. Maryland has several distinct accents (Eastern shore, Baltimore, Western Panhandle, the south....), but I'm from "the middle" which I don't really think has its own accent, at least not one that's distinct from all the other Maryland ones. Baltimore is the most distinctive one - "warsh" for wash and "wurter" for water, etc.

You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."

I've been told multiple times that I have a Wisconsin accent. Damn this thing's good. Except I call it "soda," not "pop."

The Northeast.

They didn't catch my Lawn Guyland accent though.

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

I've been told I have a slight southern draw seeing as I've lived in the south my whole life.

What's next, southern Germany?

Naw, central Germany :)

I lived in Georgia until I was 8, then Florida until 20, when I joined the Army. I know most people don't consider Florida to be southern, but hey. I grew up in a surf/skate culture, so I guess the southern accent just didn't stick. It does come out every now and again though.

I got "the West". But I grew up in Pittsburgh. Strange! But I never spoke like a 'burgher so I guess its ok.

But they have a "Are you from Pittsburgh" quiz and I got a 98% on that!!

Scumbag... I told you this site was a rip, didn't I?

Midland accent.

But here's the kicker: ..or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. WTF does that mean? Guess it covers all their bases.

We've met in person. Tell me, g/f, do I have a "Midland" accent or what?

YEEEEE HAW!!

The West

"Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta."

That's because I had to work hard to get rid of my accent when I moved north of the Mason-Dixon! Mission accomplished I suppose.
