Here's what's happening about 5 minutes north of me these days. Personally, I never heard/saw a thing. But, if I start speaking in bleeps or binary at least I'll know why.

Indiana National Guard story (http://www.wthr.com/global/story.asp?s=8179155)

Meteors, jets, ohmy!

i don't believe them. even part-timers know better than to go super-sonic over the lower 48. the FAA would have their asses if they did...and i don't think an F-16 can maneuver enough while super-sonic to dog fight...even if it could, it would kill the pliot.

I like that the article has a picture of a rural road where the activities occurred. Adds so much to the story.

I had a pair of A-10s go right over my head at maybe 100 ft once. And not at an airshow either. It was keeeeewwl.

"Ah, I see", said the blind woman....thanks for the editorial help. I fixed it.

Yeah, I didn't buy the NG story either. Too many eyewitnesses saying weird crap. I don't know what it is, but I'm fairly certain the Guard is what it isn't.

Guess we'll just have to wait for the next round.

Up around here, rural roads play a huge role in the nightly news. Big story...another rural road.

I will say that the jets usually do their stuff in the day time. Noisy buggers, but they don't normally rattle the house too much. Sometimes, sure. But not always.

i saw a B-1 on a training flight (in TX) on the day GW was 1st inaugurated, that was cool. the combat air patrol (2 Cobras and an Apache) on I-10 heading into Houston i saw in the months after 9/11 was just scary.

Did you read the comments at the bottom of the story? Theories abound!

As a whole though, no one seems to be buying the Guard story.

Aren't they required to inform anyone in authority when and where they are planning to do training sessions such as these?
My thinking is they would since it's a rural area and happened at night.

I looked up once and saw the Stealth Bomber going really slow and not very high up because it was landing at the airport not far from where I was. It looked like death.

It's not as rural as the road would lead you to believe. The city of Kokomo is right there. It's small, but well populated. That makes their story all the more odd.

Dammit.

I never weighed a gnome.

Who thinks to?

They counted on that. And then they stopped the Internet...oh, wait...never mind. That was something else.

So this is an Earth Quake that you could have been warned about maybe?

Midwest quake felt far and wide (http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/04/18/illinois.earthquake/index.html)

About 20 years ago, I was leaving an air show in northern California when they did an unannounced low-altitude flyover with an SR-71. Everyone crapped their pants. I found out what the end of the world is gonna feel like, just before it all goes dark.

Possibly! We just shook again.
