I like their new cd. It's been a long time since they have came out with any new stuff. I'm going to see them in concert next month. :)

I saw them many years ago at the US Festival in So. Cal. They were great and I have some of their albums and would love to see them again and had no idea there were still around.

Are all of the original members still in the band?

I really liked Mesopotamia and of course, Rock Lobster is a classic.

I saw them at the US festival too. I went to it two years in a row. I lived in Los Angeles at the time. I did not go to all three days. I went two days the first time and only one day the second. I think the B-52's were at the first one if I remember correctly. Were the Police the headliners? You can check them out on their website to see if the B-52's are playing in your state since I'm not sure where the "state of confusion" is. :D www.theB-52's.com (http://www.theB-52's.com) It is all the orginal members except the guitar player(Ricky Wilson) who died in the mid 80's. The drummer took over on guitar and is really good. They have a bass player and drummer that tour with them on the road. I think I have seen them five times in concert. Two of those were in the last few years.

Yup, I think The Police did headline that weekend. I went to both festivals too but didn't stay for the last day on the last festival. It was heavy metal day and I had no desire to stomach that noise.

Did you see The Clash get damn near boo'd off the stage? They were putting America down BIG TIME and the massive crowd wasn't to pleased with them at all. I never actually liked The Clash.

PTOOEY

The Grateful Dead opened on day 1 and for cryin out loud, I wish they would have stopped playing about an hour before they actually did. They went on forever! No wait, Santana opened the first day and they were great, but I got so sick of The Grateful Dead twanging away for freaking ever. PTOOEY on them too ;-)

The B52's were fantastic and I sure wanna see them again. Have you ever seen Wall of Voodoo or Oingo Boingo or Devo? Great shows, I tell ya! Hell, I even went on a date with Mark Mothersbaugh of Devo back in their heyday.

YEEEEEEEHAAAAAWWWWW!!!!!!!!!

What a night that was :D

I think the Grateful Dead had a breakfast with the Dead on the third day. The alternative one was the first day. I did not remember the crowd booing the Clash at all! But at that point maybe I thought they were yelling for them. I love the Clash by the way and would have to say they are one of my all time favorite bands. They played the second year which was not as good aside from the Clash. I think they were the headliners and other bands included Men at Work and the Stray Cats(I actually fell asleep during their performance). But back then the Clash really were not one of my favorites. Remember the flying saucer? I also love Oingo Boingo and saw them several times in concert. I was in LA when they did their farewell show but it was sold out. I also saw Wall of Voodoo at the Whiskey a go-go on Sunset Strip. I like them too. I saw Stan Ridgeway on the sidewalk in Berkeley a few years ago. Devo is another band I like. I saw them a couple of years ago in Oakland and they put on a great show.

The flying saucer? Not really but I saw Rush many years later in Irvine, Ca. where there was a flying saucer that flew over the stage and I could not believe it. I even called the local newspaper the next day about it... it was that freaky and real! No one else reported it. WHAAAAT? It dint look like prop at all but was very bizarre indeed.

Ok, I was high but many many people just stared at it with a dumbfounded look on their mugs. It was TRIPPY AS HELL. I don't remember a flying saucer at the US Festival. What day/night was it and did it look real??

Hey, I saw Wall of Voodoo at the Whiskey too. Good grief, I'll bet you and I were at the same concerts at the same time back then, ya think?

Too funny.

:D :D :D :D

Well the flying saucer was part of the concert. Just to freak out the people. It was just special effects. Hmm, well at least I think it was. I thought that was the night the Clash played but it could have been the year the Police played there. I went two years in a row in the early 80's. Wow, we could have been at the same Wall of Voodoo concert at the Whiskey. I lived in LA for five years. 81-86. Did you go to any concerts at the Greek Theater in LA? Or Universal Amphitheater? I went to several at both places.

If you watched Aqua Teen Hunger Force you'd know that was Geddy's spaceship:

Man, I just don't remember a spaceship at all and I went to both festivals. :@@:

I've been to the Greek Theater many times. I saw King Crimson there, The Tubes and a host of others I don't remember off hand.

Universal Ampitheater, hell yes! I grew up in So. Cal. and went to all the venues and have seen many concerts. I got to see The Stranglers a few times and they were one of my favorite bands in the early-mid eighties. Do you like them?

Oh, have you ever seen The Residents??? That is a MUST SEE band!!! I've seen them 4 times and what a performance they put on. :D They have many albums out but have never given their names or showed their faces. They wear masks (giant eyeballs sometimes) or face paint. They are by far the strangest band ever.

I love the Stranglers and saw them at the Beverly Wilshire(early 80's). They were kind of rude and did not play any of songs that they played on the radio station-KROQ. I have never seen the Tubes but they play every once in a while in the area. I have never seen the Residents either but have heard about them and seen their picture with the giant eyeball. I think they are from the SF bay area.
