Heiss - A CARELESS mistake by Microsoft programmers has revealed that special access codes prepared by the US National Security Agency have been secretly built into Windows. The NSA access system is built into every version of the Windows operating system now in use, except early releases of Windows 95 (and its predecessors). The discovery comes close on the heels of the revelations earlier this year that another US software giant, Lotus, had built an NSA "help information" trapdoor into its Notes system, and that security functions on other software systems had been deliberately crippled. please! if Uncle Sugar needs to know what you're doing, they don't need a trapdoor. it's just quicker for them.

Entirely unsurprising, although I'm not extremely happy about it.

So you think that there's no way the NSA could've gotten their codes into the Mac OS too?

Is there any evidence that they have? Microsoft being a privacy-ignoring company is not a new thing; it's not very likely that Apple did anything similar.

On the other hand, I can say with very high confidence that my OS, Ubuntu Linux, can't be touched by any federal agency in the way suggested by the NSA key. So to you Windows users, I extend my index finger in your direction, and laugh uproariously. Trust my personal data to something coded by Microsoft? I don't think so.
