Craploads of women around here, apparently... That doesn't surprise me. On the Metro in the mornings there always seem to be a lot of women about.

Florida's funny, it seems all the single women go to Jacksonville or Miami. I guess all the Bucs fans turn them off!

Miami doesn't count-that's elderly widows.

I guess that explains why I didn't meet my wife in Minnesota.
I wonder why the differences across the country. It's almost counter-intuitive to me. I'd expect more men in the industrial midwest.

Here's some more interesting maps (http://creativeclass.com/whos_your_city/maps/) from the same website.

That makes your prior need to commute seem very sad.

it's just gross differences in metro areas. state by state would be closer to the 53/47% split.

I'd expect more men in the industrial midwest.I think young single men tend to migrate westward in search of better opportunities. They may do this more than women because on average fewer are graduating from college -- staying in the industrial midwest is a losing proposition for them as jobs disappear. Also, young people in general tend to move more than older folks. Of the older folks who stay behind, the men die sooner leaving a surplus of single widows.
Just guessing.

If you look closely, you'll see that the map excludes ages 65 and up.
