The Mist was one of the scariest movies I have seen in a while. It was scary on multiple levels. It was really twisted, especially the end.
I was strongly reminded of a certain poster on this board (with the initials SMW) when watching Marcia Gay Harden's character in the movie.

I think The Mist is one of King's best novels. I'm looking forward to seeing the film, particularly since SMW's gonna be in it. Tell me, the character SMW plays - it's Mrs. Carmody, isn't it?

Man, y'all can't go 10 minutes without mentioning my name, eh? Must be terrible to have such a crush on someone who thinks you are two of the biggest whinebags on Allforums.

Thats the one.
I think the visuals are fantastic. There were a bunch of scenes that made me cringe. There is especially a scene at the end that was so effective my brother in law actually said out loud, "Well it's not their world anymore."

The movie blowed.
Big on the "psychological horror" tho--like, how many people can leave the theater demanding their money back or not laugh out loud within the first 25 minutes? Or how many tots can spot the $2.95 insect wing?
Now THAT is "psychological" suspense.........
~shudder~~~

Hey, don't give away the plot! If it has an SMW look-alike or wannabe in it, I'm sure it's very disturbing.
I gotta go see it but I'll wear some extra strength Depends when I do.

I saw this movie this past weekend and was very disappointed. I've read the short story and liked it a lot, so I was hoping for good things out of this movie. However, the screenwriter made several alterations to the story which all seemed to detract from the film, the worst of which was the ending.
It's too bad too, cause I was looking forward to seeing a good horror movie. Oh well, a friend of mine says I should see Dawn of the Dead (the new version)...maybe that will satisfy me.

Perhaps if he grovels sufficiently he'll be forgiven.

I don't remember ever calling you a "liar". When did I do that?
You need to grow some thicker skin if you want to hang out on boards like this.

1.See post number 66 in the "Obama Speech" thread. Also see post in "Horror Movies " thread where you claimed I only saw the trailer of "The Mist."
2. A thicker skin---you mean like a giant crab??????
Now that WOULD come in handy--thanks for the tip, my good lad.

Ok, yeah, I remember this now.
This is how it went.
You said:
Now, what I want to know is--IF he is correct about a "racial divide", and we are indeed living in 1901 when blacks aren't allowed to vote, hold property, drink from a whites'-only drinking fountain, ride a bus, or go to a good school. --then what exactly does he intend to do about it except use it as a means to get his name in the paper--AGAIN?????
And I replied:
He never said we are living in 1901, he never said blacks are not allowed to vote, hold property, drink from a whites'-only drinking fountain, ride a bus, or go to a good school. He simply never said it. You are lying.
So what? You were lying. You made all that crap up. It is more than just an exaggeration because he never even made anything approaching those points you claimed.
You want an apology because you lied and I called you on it?
Get real.
Also see post in "Horror Movies " thread where you claimed I only saw the trailer of "The Mist."
I never actually called you a liar there.
When I wrote it, I was actually thinking more along the lines that you were making a judgment without all the information, not necessarily "lying".
2. A thicker skin---you mean like a giant crab??????

Yes, actually. Like a giant crab.
You are most welcome.

Only a silly oaf like yourself would bring politics into a "SCARY" movie thread.
You called me a liar, and that's that. I refuse to discuss it further unless you sufficiently grovel. You simply have not groveled enough.
Since I don't suspect you will ever admit or acknowledge that you--yes, YOU, called ME, Rendova, a liar-- and ...and ....what a horrid, horrid, thing to SAY to ME--of ALL people--the NERVE!!!!---I suggest you put me on ignore as you've done with nine-tenths of the rest of the board. Unfortunately, tho, by doing that, you will miss my continuing saga of classic ""psychologically chilling" movie posters that I--Rendova--have added to my own personal sig--in honor of YOU, ya prissy pantywaist, uh, I mean, Your Worshipfulness.
Besides, being the kindly caring person that I am, I wouldn't want to keep you from your movie-watching...... you have too much fun suffering from paroxysms of fear.

The flowers are nice, but not groveling enough. Sorry.
You know, some would think (blush blush) that this overload of flowers from , uh, uh, you to me, means that, uh, (blush blush) that you LIKE me, or, or..... have a (blush blush) crush on me.
Dependa, I know this will hurt, I am a happily married woman and a MOTHER. Besides, we don't even like the same movies. It just simply would not work.
You can dream about me tho........

Ren, if you want to continue to "debate" with the hired help... I would suggest that you only use simple thoughts and phrases. Might I suggest "Get your dumb-ass away from my stuff" or "If you must grovel and complain, please do it out of my sight and hearing". One cannot let these lowly-raised, ignorant, and classless boobs take too much of our time.
Dhrama is too busy searching out what John McCain said to a gardener in 1978 to engage in any real discussions.

I saw this movie a couple weeks ago. I found it a little boring. And maybe too much focus on the religious fanatics theme, which is really more annoying than scary. (I have a hard time believing that woman character would gather followers so successfully in real life, as she seems obviously insane; but hey what do I know) The psychological twist towards the end seems very daring to me, I found it compelling and adds some substance to the whole movie. But again that's not really a scary movie moment.
