Just curious, anyone out there fans of NCAA football? I'm kind of obsessed with it, but with no season to watch right now, I'm looking for any talk I can find...

The absence of CFB for me is like what I expect withdrawal symptoms would be. Lame ass that I am, I'm rewatching old games that played over the last season.

Favorite teams????

(I'll start... LSU since birth and Auburn since I got my degree from there.)

Well to be honest I did not really get into CFB until about 2 years ago, right around the time I got my HDTV. The first thing I saw on it was an Ohio State- Michigan game on Saturday night. I was hooked. I have watched a lot of games since then and have become a fan of SEC football, since it is the best CFB in the nation. I don't really have a favorite team though, but bieng from CA I see a lot of Cal, but they pretty much suck. So it is a good thing CBS shows SEC football every Saturday.

Wow, I'm a bit surprised to see a guy from the West Coast giving props to the SEC. It is usually all USC, from what I've seen. I love SEC football (but I'm not one of these blind SEC followers that go on and on about how all other confs. suck by comparison) and can't wait for the season in August.

Cal is actually pretty good, in my humble opinion. They beat the crap out of Tennessee last year. They're my favorite PAC-10 team. (Although I'd love to see UW turn the corner)

I hate USC. And SEC football really is a cut above all the others.

I must confess to being a USF fan, and that dates back to their I-AA days. I also root for the Gators, and fondly remember them kicking Ohio State's ass.

Well, except for when they upset Auburn last season, I really enjoyed watching USF rise to contention. Gators, though, can't say that I pull for them all that often. But, yeah, it was pretty damn sweet watching them manhandle the Buckeyes. (Almost as sweet as when my LSU Tigers beat them down in January.)

And I'm really going to enjoy watching Terrelle Pryor dismantle all of your respective teams for the next couple of years. :)

Well, if recent history is any indication, the enjoyment may be elusive.

Seriously, I'd love to see more SEC-Big 10-Pac 10 cross conference matchups. A home and home LSU-OSU series would be enjoyable. I doubt that my Tigers would be able to sweep them.

And yeah, congrats on picking up Pryor! I know he was looking at LSU for a bit, and we could've used another QB since Ryan Perriloux may not end up working out for us...

College Football only amuses me when people come back. When a team that makes a splash keeps all of it's players and comes back to win it all.

Like when Leinart stayed for his senior year at USC.. or when Manning stayed for his senior year at Tennessee... And last year was interesting to see all of the Michigan players stay and then get their asses canned by Appalachian State, Oregon, etc...

I can't wait until NCAA College Fottball 2009 comes out. Last years version on the 360 was the most fun I have had with a football video game in a long, long time. I actually played a whole season. Since madden is a joke now college ball is the way to go.

I have NCAA 08 for PS3. Great game, but there are far too many fumbles and ints. I've heard 09 will be good. I'm looking forward to it.

I was able to find a "little" information on the EA sports homepage, but nothing of any real substance, like video or screenshots.

Basically, it only talks about all the great features of the game, but doesn't show them.

I've not been able to find any gamer website that discusses the game, I think it may be too early for reviews and such. But I'd at least like to see a demo video.

What system do you play NCAA on, by the way?

For anyone interested, I went to LSU's Spring Game on Saturday (1st string vs. 2nd string) and after watching that, I don't think that the Tigers have much hope of repeating as BCS Champs next season. (I got to see last season's BCS Crystal Ball trophy in the Student Union a few weeks ago... pretty cool, I must say!)

Without Ryan Perrilioux at QB, the offense is pretty anemic. I don't know if anyone outside of Baton Rouge and not wearing Purple and Gold is following that little nugget, but he is "on the team" at the moment, but not practicing. Personally, I think he needs the boot, even if that costs LSU a chance of competing for the SEC Championship next year. The new 1st team QB, Andrew Hatch (transfer from Harvard) looked ok, but not world class.

How's Iowa State looking next season? You guys will have a pretty tough road in the Big XII North, it looks like they might be able to step up better against the South. It was nice to watch Kansas and Mizzou both represent toward the end of the season.

In any case, good luck to your Cyclones next year.

We're pretty much going to be an all-new team in 2008; New QB, New unis (literally a carbon-copy of what USC has), and a 4-star recruit WR from Texas. I hope Chizik's got something up his sleeve this year, he was looking impressive for how he coached a nothing-team late last season. It sucks what the AD is doing to ticket prices (and tickets in general this year), but it's the only way to pump money into a lacking system.

While I can't speak fully for UT, from what I've seen they should be pretty potent in the Big XII next year, at least an improvement over last season. From what I've read, Colt McCoy is looking pretty good this spring. Plus, he's had a full season taking snaps to get more comfortable in the pocket.

The thing I'm interested in seeing with UT is their D. The got Will Muschamp from Auburn (my "other" team), who was a stellar D-coordinator with the Tigers. I don't think that Texas will be able to get past the Sooners in the South, but I think they'd be at least 9-3, probably 10-2 next season.
