I did not get a chance to see Into the Wild in the theaters but rented the DVD last night. It is a long, sad but fascinating journey based on a true story. The acting and cinematography are excellent. This is the kind of movie that will have you thinking about it long afterwards. I loved Hal Holbrook's character. If he can't bring a tear to your eye I don't know what can. Wow, what an adventure this guy had only to end in such a sad way! A great film.

A really great film. Eddie Vedder(Pearl Jam) does the soundtrack. He just played in Berkeley but I missed it. The reviews were great and he played solo for a two and a half hour concert. Sean Penn(who directed the movie) was in the audience and went onstage and wished his wife a happy birthday. They were going through a divorce but have since reconciled.

This movie was really overlooked this year - I found the story incredibly compelling and frustrating all at the same time.
