Everyone has songs they dont care for...but are there any that when they come on, they just straight make you angry?

For me its Anything from Metallica......Because ultimately, they are the ones that started the change of P2P sharing and online radio stations as we knew it!!!!! http://www.allforums.net/images/icons/icon8.gif

Also hearing this god awefull new christmas music!!!! (Most all of it is garbage compared to what i heard in the 80s and earlier (Johnny Mathis, etc))

Much better stuff!!

So you're mad at Metallica for wanting to get paid for their music? They hate the same type of medium that made them FAMOUS to begin with! If people didn't "share" their tapes back in the day, everyone would be saying "Who?" in reference to them now!

I suspect they mostly became famous due to getting a recording contract and airplay, but believe it or not, a percentage of the price of blank tapes and recordable CD-ROMs (the 650MB ones) go to the artists (collectively) to compensate them for lost revenues.

Personally, I think most people just want something for free, and use this sort of thing as an excuse to steal music.

You are right, I got my first Metallica tape in 1984 as a bootleg. They would never have gotten a recording contract if it were not for passionate fans sharing their stuff under the table in the first place. Musicians traditionally make their money from concerts, but Metallica started their own label and got greedy.

In the early '90s Metallica encouraged fans to bring tape recorders to their concerts so they could relive the experience over and over again.

What is the correct amount a band may make before they become greedy?

The exact point is the point at which they start prosecuting their fans for doing what they used to encourage.

So if a store has an opening day sale, they become greedy when the sale ends?

I think everyone needs to just admit they want free songs and stop trying to pretend like there's some sort of justification for it.

Any song by Bjork makes me wanna punch holes in the wall. I cannot STAND her whiny, sickening voice.

i wonder what happened to the rest of The Sugarcubes?

Deus

Bjork
Deus does not exit.
But if he does, he lives in the sky above me,
In the fattest largest cloud up there.
He's whiter than white and cleaner then clean.
He wants to reach me.

Deus does not exist.
But if he does I always notice him.
Getting ready in his airy room.
He's picking his gloves so gently off.
He wants to touch me.

I'm walking humbly down a tiny street
Pulling my collar it gets bigger, woooh

Einar
I once met him,
It really surprised me,
He put me in a bath tub,
Made me squeeky clean,
Really clean.

Bjork
To create a universe
You must taste
The forbidden fruit.

Einar
He said hi. I said hi,
I was still clean.

Bjork
Deus does not exist,
But if he does he'd want to get down from that cloud,
First marzipan fingers then marble hands,
More silent than silence and slower than slow,
Diving towards me.

My collar is huge room for two hands,
They start at the chest and move slowly down.

Einar
I thought I had seen everything,
He wasn't white and fluffy,
He just had side burns,
He just had side burns,
And a quiff,
He said hi.
I said hi. I was still clean,
I was squeeky clean.
I was surprised.
Just as you would be.

Einar; Bjork
Deus, Deus, Deus, Deus
Bjork
He does not exist

The "Every Breath You Take" remake - I forget who the "artist" was.

Really, any remake of a great song made mediocre by the imitation pisses me off. A true "artist" will take a decent or bad song and turn it into something great.

Does the store prosecute its customers for asking for the sale price?

I still get free songs, it's called "the library". But I pay out the ass when I go to a concert so I consider it a wash.

No, but they do when they shoplift.

Personally, I think there's a substantial difference between crappy recordings off of the soundboard at a concert and songs ripped off a commercial CD, but it's basically irrelevant. Regardless, if the people were trading bootlegs on Napster, I'm pretty sure Metallica can't do anything about that because I think once they encouraged people to trade the songs, they were essentially dedicating them to the public domain. On the other hand, I don't think at any point in their career Metallica gave people the OK to copy and distribute their commercial releases. So I don't see any real hypocrisy here.

By the way, I recommend checking out www.projectplaylist.com. (www.projectplaylist.com) You can find most artists or bands on there, make playlists, and you don't pay a dime. Oh, and it's perfectly legal as well. :)

I dont really think they are "crappy" but I would agree that they don't deserve the hype they are given. Same goes for Green Day.

I LOVE that site. The cool thing is if you're searching for a song and it's not in their files, you can add the song to the site. I've done that with alot of music.

I like a couple of Green Day songs, and a few Linkin Park songs are pretty tolerable. My boyfriend loves them so I'm kind of used to it.

The band I really hate is Nickelback. Figured You Out is the only song by them that I sort of like, but everything else of theirs is just annoying.

I don't like Nickelback either.

I liked one of their songs before they got famous. And my soon to be 2 year old son likes Rockstar. I think he just likes the video though.
