I mean those with titles like "Examiner", or "Globe" you always see on the checkout counter in supermarkets. They do sell well, and I am amazed! I've always wondered who reads them and why.
Here's how I think of them: since all the stuffs in tabloids are made up (the "journalists" of most tabloids seem quite ready to accept that their job title are actually "fictional writers", they don't even care to pretend anymore), they should at least be creative about it--but they are not, so even if you treat them like short stories (which makes sense), they are fairly pathetic stories. Some of the digitally altered pictures in tabloids are done so poorly they invoke laughter and tears, and most of the articles even ooze self-parody, as if saying, "yeah, I know it's $*%#, but hey you choose to read it, let's see how I shall next insult your intelligence (or lack their of) some more..." You see, it's a miracle they sell at all. More so that I don't personally know anybody who reads it.
Now just because I think so, you don't have to! So let me know about your opinions on tabloids.
