When I first got a PC in 1996, I used to play a lot of the standard Solitaire game of the Windows. It was a strangely addictive way to kill time. But after a while I got bored, I mean really bored, and I realized that when I play the standard Solitaire. I didn't really have to think, most of the actions you perform in this game are mandatory. Decision making is kept to a minimum, in my opinion. Perhaps that's precisely the reason why some people love to play it--you doze off and time passed easily without pain-- but it's just not for me.

Am I wrong about plain solitaire? Is there actually more strategy to this game than I thought?

I've always wondered that myself. Like whether it would be better to leave a card in the lower stacks so that you can bring down more cards on top of it - as opposed to putting it in the final upper stack as soon as you have the chance.

The way I play it is that I try to get as much out of the top deck as I can before moving anything down below. Once I run out of options, then I start moving stuff around in the bottom rows. This has been successful for me many times, but different methods work for different people.

There is a strategy to Solitaire. Many decisions made early can come back to hunt you later. I would like to see what kind of scores you guys get.
