Using our imagination.. what kind of shape would America be in today, if General George S. Patton had survived europe, and became america's next president after Truman.
What kind of president do you think he would have been?

I think he would have been a terrible president. Patton was impulsive, unable to empathize with others and possessed of an unbelievably large ego.

He would have nuked Moscow and having witnessed that, the Chinese would not have started anything, especially so soon after WWII. No Moscow, no U.S.S.R. No U.S.S.R., no Iron Curtain, no cold war.
Hmmmm.

Patton in the White House, MacArthur in charge of the Army, and Curtis LeMay in charge of the Air Force. Nuclear armageddon, here we come!

Patton was a great general, he would have made a horrible president. His personality was exactly contrare to what that of a president would need to be.

The Soviets got the bomb in '49, which would've been Patton's first year in office. But regardless, I'm not confident LeMay would've known to stop bombing when he reached the U.S. border. :)

At the end of WWII, Patton might have been well received - following the war & facing the dreaded commies ...
