Hi, I'm in India right now visiting my in-laws. They are nice, but I am a little shocked by their response to my success. About 3 months ago, I traded in my nice sports car for a very exotic sports car. Everyone was very happy. Then last month I traded my wife's luxury car for a very high end Luxury car and nobody's happy. My in-laws response was "you are only 38, what will you drive when you are 50?". I thought they would be happy for us. But isn't it important also to enjoy life when you are young? (and 38 is not so young anyway!!)
What do you guys think?

I don't really see the problem here... You make enough money for it, so you and your wife got nicer cars. What's the big deal?

If you and the wife are happy. I say shrug your shoulders and get on with life. Not worth worrying about.

What to drive when you're 50? Why, whatever fancies your tickle! You might really go out on a limb & even decide to change the brand of toothpaste you use by then ... wouldn't that freak them out?

I'm 19, and I drive a midsize sedan. Cheaper on insurance than a sports car, and what's the point of one in Chicago, Land of Perpetual Gridlock, anyway?

Maybe they think you should pace yourself. You know, spend a few years in a 911 before you get that Ferrari.

Bah. If you have that much money to blow, spend a little more and get one of these bad boys (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bugatti_Veyron).

Maybe if you traded in the wife AND the sports car, you could have bought a
Bugatti.

Buy a $500 beater when you turn 50 and drive it around for a week just to show them.
Then switch back to your luxury car.

Ouch. The article says it may have been a customer renting the 1000hp toy or the owner's younger brother. If he rented it out to somebody, shame on him. If it was his brother, then I guess he never learned how idiotic little brothers can be.
I will accept that new Mercedes drop-top, however. I do like that interior!

Depends upon your perspective. If you've got the money to buy that, you've got the money to live where they drive on the correct side of the road.

Ireland to Make Switch from Left-Side Driving to Right? (http://news.windingroad.com/countriesmarkets/euro/ireland-to-make-switch-from-left-side-driving-to-right/)
An Irish politician insists the country should consider a switch from driving on the left, to driving on the right to reduce accidents caused by foreigners, according to Reuters.
Ireland is, currently, the beneficiary of one of the world’s strongest economic booms, in the last decade. Hence, a windfall of immigrants from Central and Eastern Europe – where they drive on the right side of the road.
Politician Donie Cassidy said, “We have all of these people coming in from Europe and from America and (because of) the roads that they are used to driving on in their own countries it is a huge difficulty when they start driving here. I know when I go to America it takes me five or six days to adjust.”
Cassidy has also suggested that foreign drivers who are accustomed to right-side driving should be restricted to 50 mph speed limits, instead of the posted 75 mph for the Irish.

Is that a Marauder? Nice car, terribly executed in concept and marketing. Similar to the Taurus SHO.

Ding!! Wrong answer.
The Marauder was similar in concept to the Impala SS ... big Detroit sedan, full of "cop" suspension, brakes & V8 engine. Essentially the same package could be had on the Crown Victoria, just check the right option packages.
The Taurus SHO was from Ford's SVO shop - the same folks who delivered the F-150 Lightning. It came with a Yamaha motor and front wheel drive. The Contour SVT was also from the SVO shop.

That may be, but in the real world a 'merc' refers to only one thing, and that American car aint it.

Don't communicate badly then blame others for it. "Merc" is ambiguous. If you absolutely must shorten the name of the particular marque, call it a Benz.

As if the McLaren SLR wasn't "exotic" enough - the good people at Brabus just had to "one-up" it, eh? Either way, nice car, Paul. Just saw a lowly "regular" one at the Chicago Auto Show (which definitely sucks when compared to the Geneva Show), but it's still cool to see a McLaren in person, nonetheless.
IMHO, the McLaren F1 (designed by Gordon Murray) still reigns supreme.

Agreed.

Sort of. There were three seats, but the driver sat in the center seat, which was a bit forward of the other two.
