My friends we must be careful as a nation. It is not written in stone that in 10 or 20 years we will still be called the most powerful nation on earth.
Remember history, many of the countries we deal with were once so powerful that they dominated other countries of the time.
Many different events can lead to a down-fall in status.
A plague, bad military decisions,economic problems, becoming too spread out, are only a few examples history has shown us.
So who do you think would replace the U.S. if we were to become a second or third world power.
WOuld it be a country or an organization such as The World Trade Organization?

If we knew this answer we could all move there right now and save a whole lot of time :eek: :D

It really is anybodys quess, I'm sure the Romans didn't even think that lazy Americans would have so much power. One thing is probably for sure, U.S. will eventually go, maybe the U.N will finally have there wish. Hillary will be the NEW WORLD POWER and lizard people will take over the planet.

They are 30 years ahead of us in several technologies and have the best reason to rebuild their military -- US.

Russia's time has come and gone - remember the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics? If you don't, then look it up. My guess on the next superpower would (at this point in time) be China. Presently, there's no other country seriously interested in pursuing the type of financial & national comittment needed to attain that status.

no, i think andorra will conquer and rule all. it's high in the mountains, easy to defend, and most of all... no one knows where it is...

neither china nor russia will be the next superpower... i actually think the day of superpowers is over. the whole concpet of a superpower is a cold-war era type of thinking.

I wonly wish you were correct, but I doubt you are. People have a need for power and there will always be someone (country)wanting to be in charge.

and countries like that will continue to have terrorists and younger countries swiping at them... though, if it is to happen, i doubt it will be either china or russia: both countries have too many social problems (civil rights for china, economic problems for russia) to develop into a world superpower. unless one of them gets their shit together, it's more likely that india would be next. india would already be up there if it's national ethos wasn't one of isolation...

an article I read once had this exact topic on it, saying that the country that's closest to us in becoming a world superpower is japan, mostly due to their technological advances with robots and other things related to high-tech profiteering. I do agree with this on that level. And by the way, all japanese anime cartoonists have such articulate skills in drawing, their cartoons are almost taking over our TV sets (can you see the sarchasm in me over that one?)(Death to Pokemon).
