Another legislator has been caught doing something wrong and probably concerning child porn. If the charges are true, and they do seem to be, his resignation should not be enough.

Longtime Maryland Del. Robert A. McKee (R-Washington) resigned today after authorities searched his Hagerstown home and seized his personal computer and images from the Internet.

McKee, 58, has served in the House of Delegates since 1995. For 29 years, he has served with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Washington County, a children's mentorship program, most recently as the group's executive director. He announced he also would resign from that post.

"For me, this is deeply embarrassing," McKee said in a statement released today. "It reflects poorly on my service to the community."

The Hagerstown Herald-Mail first reported today that the Washington County Sheriff's Department had obtained a warrant to search the delegate's home.

FBI spokesman Richard Wolf said the bureau's cyber crimes unit is assisting local authorities with the investigation. He declined to comment further on the case, saying, "I can't get into any details of what we're doing."

The cyber crimes unit includes investigations of child pornography.

McKee said he has entered treatment and will cooperate with law enforcement authorities.

"My primary focus is to get well and stay well," McKee said. "I know this can only happen with the support and prayers of my family and friends and the help of professionals."

McKee, a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, is a sponsor this year of several bills dealing with minors, including the "Child Protection from Predators Act" as well as a bill to collect DNA samples from sexual predators.

McKee has a long history with youth athletics, according to his official biography. He has served as officers in two Little League groups and as secretary of a parent and child center advisory committee. He also has held officer positions at First Christian Church.

The House Republican Caucus convened an emergency meeting this morning to discuss the situation.

House Minority Leader Anthony J. O'Donnell (R-Calvert) said he had not spoken with McKee since news broke of the investigation.

"It's troubling," O'Donnell said. "But look, in this country we afford our citizens the right to hear details." He asked reporters not to speculate about the case.

And lest you think only conservatives are interested in kiddie porn there is the following article.

OAKDALE (CBS 5) ― An Oakdale police report involving former KGO Radio talk show host Bernie Ward has been publicly released, detailing a graphic online chatroom conversation that appears to be at the center of criminal charges that he knowingly sent and received child pornography in late 2004 and early 2005.

The police report was initially obtained Thursday by the Talk Radio Network through a request filed under the state's open records law. An Oakdale Police Department spokeswoman confirmed the authenticity of it to CBS5.com, citing the agency's "Controlled Document" stamp that appears throughout the copy of the report.

Ward, 56, was indicted in December on three counts of federal child pornography violations. He is scheduled to stand trial in June.

The police report alleges that Ward, using the screen name of "Vincentlio" carried on several lengthy, sexually-explicit conversations online with a woman from Oakdale using the name "Sexfairy."

The report also contends that Ward sent the woman, who later contacted police, photos that he had downloaded of children involved in sex acts.

Ward's defense attorney Doron Weinberg has previously said that as part of research for a book, Ward had downloaded a few images of child pornography. Ward and his lawyer did not immediately comment on Thursday's revelation.

Ward, a former Catholic priest who is now married and has four children, was well-known for a his liberal views on the airwaves. KGO Radio terminated his contract on Dec. 31.

While at KGO, Ward produced an award-winning radio news series called 'Heaven Help Us,' that had explored allegations of financial and sexual misconduct in the Archdiocese of San Franciscok it is only conservatives who have a thing for kiddie sex there is the following article.
