NOT!

Sympathy for Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden and the Taliban has dropped sharply in the country amid a wave of deadly violence, according to the results of a recent opinion poll....According to the poll results, only 24 per cent of Pakistanis approved of Osama when the survey was conducted last month, compared with 46 per cent during a similar survey in August.

Backing for Al Qaeda fell to 18 per cent from 33 per cent.

Support for the Taliban dropped by half to 19 per cent from 38 per cent, the results said.

The people who funded Osama have stopped, getting what they wanted: oil costing approx. 100 dollars per barell. So why support him when it'll just cost them more money? (And maybe a dozen of thousands of lives)

I think this is rather misleading and in fact a dangerous article.

Firstly, its never been a case that the Pakistani people supported AQ.
Also, when an organisation has its beliefs based on a religious theme,
just how much money does it need, very little Id imagine.

AQ wouldnt have a geographical power base in any set location, their
more an ideal than an entity.

Their leadership being very fluid in where they stay, no doubt in NW Pakistan but also in neighbouring countries.
