Someone receintly brought it to my attention, that after the war in Germany our Govt went through great strides to assist the German civilian population rebuild their country. Part of this assistance was to sell them as much "scrap metal" as possible. A large portion of this metal was from destroyed Military hardware (including American Army Tanks that were destroyed by the Nazi's), that was all later melted down by the Germans and molded into girders and sheet metal!

Has anyone else here ever heard anything about this?

Germany should have been turned into pasture for cows.

The old East Germany, perhaps. West Germany, turned out to be a pretty nice place, IMO.
