Now that the passions of the 2004 election are behind us, I think it should be easier for the leftish among us to admit that Kerry wasn't all that hot and they can't really remember anything he stood for.

What got the vote out for him was a great anti-Bush sentiment.

The rightish are in a similar situation this year. I wouldn't walk across the street to meet John McCain, and I sort of like Barak Obama. Many Republicans don't feel strongly pro-McCain or strongly anti-Barak.

I don't know if a significant number of Republicans would vote for Obama, but I think many will stay home rather than vote for McCain. With elections as close as they have been, that will make a big difference. Obama will beat McCain.

Of course, if Hillary gets the nomination, Republicans will crawl through glass to vote against her.

yeah.but that Obama guy is just tap dancin around Politics.
Just like when Hillary said recently how she's goona bring jobs
that Bush Lost.A Pres can't even by an Act of Congress Guarantee
or create Jobs. That's the Marketplace at work.Unless one is
talking Pork Barrel projects, which is the purview of a Congressman.
Hillary got Upstate New Yorker Votes by Pledging thousands of new
jobs to that area.As a Freshman Senator, she netted a LOSS of
Jobs to that same area. So,Nice try...Trickster Hillary.
Same wiht this Obama Guy.
He's just Poppin off a message about change.I guess those who aren't
very savvy,buy that crapOla.
Obama talks in such generality,as to not even meet a Butchers standard
when awaiting fresh meat.
Which is what The guy's doin.Just Wingin it,to make himself appear
like a Statesman, who will offer Change,Needed change and More
change.Mores like mere pocket change.
I could get more succinct Political acumen from reading a Fortune Cookie
than this Obama fellar.Like what did he accomplish as a Frosh Senator.?
Dig...Daddio's. !

In my opinion I think that Obama is the best candidate out of the three front runners left. Its just a matter of who wins the democratic nomination.

The Democrats would be absolutely foolish to nominate Hillary Clinton. She can't beat McCain. Obama can. A Clinton nomination would be even dumber than Kerry's nomination in 2004.

We're in full agreement on that.

then judging by the trend, Shrilary will be the nominee!

i'm not really for or against any candidate, i'd rather see someone in the Whit House that will shake up government. Paul never had a real chance, but McCain does.

Hillary is still likely to get the nomination, but it will be because of unelected superdelegates; party insiders who are already lining up behind Hillary in much greater numbers and could throw the whole election to her if it remains this close come convention time.

I'm afraid that Pat is finally right about something.

The more I read about McCain, the more I see a dedicated warmonger.

Given the Democratic party's trend of acting stupid, to be frank, I wouldn't be surprised if Hillary was the nominee and then McCain won, even with all the popular anti-Republican sentiment now.

Well, I don't know about the other right-leaning folk around here, but I certainly don't like McCain all that much. Romney was his superior (intellectually and strategically) by a fold of 100.

i see Teddy Roosevelt. born to privilege, but turned his back on it when it would have served him well. a maverick that can compromise....and just as likely to hit you in the face with a baseball bat as pop you in the nose.

Good reading on the three front runners...

Speaks well of both McCain and Obama (for those of a fiscally conservative nature, like myself). McCain uses this as a part of his platform, Obama needs to promote this also.

That would be a mortal blow to the Democratic Party if it happens.
