Maybe children should also be given a true history of their parents lives (while they are still young and not "indoctrinated" to care/respect them). One may decide that their choice of parents was poor... and they could petition the state for a better set.

I don't think real patriotism can be taught anyway.
All they are trying to teach is jingoism and nationalism. Propaganda class, just like the Soviets and Nazis used to have.

Stick to teaching the facts and if your country is deserving then patriotism will follow naturally.
