This is an email my mom wrote to me about her experience being raped by a doctor when she was 17. She has recently done more research on said doctor and found a slew of other allegations against him. Just thought everyone should know.

I was brutally raped by Dr. Milan Vuitch and his anesthesiologist when I was 17. I am now 42. I went to his office in Washington, D.C. to have an I.U.D. inserted. They made a 7 PM appointment for me so I wouldn't have to miss work. As it was an office building (next to the World Bank, at about 18th & I Streets), there was no one around in the building, the receptionist had gone home, etc. I can't believe I trusted those two men just because he was a "doctor." They put me under general anesthesia a few minutes after 7, being so sweet and nice to me. I remember when they told me to count backwards from 20, I only made it to 18 and I was out. I woke up around 11 pm in excruciating pain. Dr. Vuitch and the other man were then very mean and angry...he threw a bottle of about 50 percosets at me from across the room, snarling "Don't be such a baby." My mom had to come pick me up because i couldn't drive. I was on the floor of the car the whole way home, screaming in pain. I spent 10 days laying in a pool of blood, sweat, and tears before my mom, (a Christian Scientist) took me to the Emergency Room. I had P.I.D. (pelvic inflammatory disease) and my body was in shock. The doctor there told her I would have been dead within 24 hours had she not brought me in. I suffered from pelvic pain for 20+ years. I was diagnosed with Fitz Hughes Curtis syndrome (every organ in my pelvic cavity covered with adhesions/scar tissue). Fallopian tubes “occluded” (blocked), the fibria “clubbed.” I was also diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease (a bowel disorder) and “Visceral Hyper-Sensitivity of the Colon.” I was told I would never be able to have children. I then suffered fom severe depression, and bi-polar disorder, as well. I was able to have children at the age of 25 & 27, without having laser surgery as I had been told would be the only way it might be possible. But my physical scars healed. By the age of 38, 21 years later, my pelvic pain finally stopped. It is now 25 years later and this is the first time I have approached this subject, except when I was about 30, when I decided I was ready to find this possible murderer (surely he had done this to many others). I searched on the internet and found his obituary in a New York City newspaper. It said something like "Champion of Women's Rights Dies at the Age of (whatever, 76, or 82, I don't remember now)...” The article went on to describe him as a hero for women because he fought for abortion rights. So he made it all those years, probably victimizing hundreds, possibly thousands of women, and still died as a “hero” and “champion” of women. I did see him one other time on the T.V., shortly after my own incident took place. It said he was giving abortions to girls who weren't even pregnant (in other words, he was putting them under anesthesia to rape them), in his own home. They showed a young girl crying and saying he wouldn't let her call home after her "abortion." It also said that he apparently was not even a real doctor, and that he had been arrested several times before, but was always able to get out of jail or avoid it, only to resurface in yet another state. Girls and women--do not trust strange men even if he is a doctor, a priest, a police officer, or whatever. There are evil, evil people out there.

Here is some more that I found about Dr. Vuitch on the internet:

* During an abortion done by Dr. Milan Vuitch, a young mother suffered perforations and lacerations of the uterus, cervix and bowel. She required a hysterectomy and extensive hospitalization for a massive infection caused by decayed parts of her unborn child which were thrust into her abdomen during the abortion. She suffered severe and long lasting emotional trauma, i.e. anxiety, depression, sleeplessness and nightmares, "often of pulled apart fetuses, dead children and other morbid themes."2

Dr. Milan Vuitch

Patient "Amanda" filed suit, saying that she had an abortion performed by Milan Vuitch at his Laurel Clinic on January 8, 1981. During the abortion, Vuitch lacerated Amanda's uterine wall. Vuitch kept Andrea overnight, in violation of clinic licensing statute. He subsequently moved her to his home, designated as the "Clinic Annex," and cared for his injured patient there.

He then returned her to clinic January 10, and discharged her. On January 11, in severe pain, Amanda was taken to the hospital by relatives and admitted. There, exploratory surgery discovered an unsutured laceration leaving a hole from her vagina into her abdominal cavity, and "significant pelvic and intestinal peritonitis." Amanda had to have a total hysterectomy. Surgeons "also removed a mass of dead tissue from the abdomen, which laboratory analysis revealed was fetal tissue." Vuitch used the company car to transport patients from clinic to the "Annex," "which is not licensed in Maryland to treat patients," and testified to transporting as many as three patients to the "Annex" for overnight stays.

Although Vuitch managed to keep his nose clean when he was doing criminal abortions, his practice deteriorated after Roe. Sloppy practices by Vuitch resulted in two deaths that I know of: Wilma Harris and Georgianna "Jeannie" English. Vuitch also testified to lacking hospital privileges since 1963. Vuitch's wife was also held accountable as an officer of the corporation, knowledgeable of Vuitch's practice of keeping patients in home overnight.

Wilma Harris

Milan Vuitch was a hero among abortion advocates. He had deliberately been arrested performing criminal abortions so that he could challenge the Washington, DC abortion law, and he succeeded in changing the way the law was enforced, effectively nulifying it.

On June 15, 1974, seventeen-year-old Wilma Harris of West Virginia went to Vuitch's Laurel Clinic for an abortion. Five days later, she was dead.

During interrogatories, Vuitch said that anesthesiologist Strahil Nacev described Wilma as "so quiet" during the abortion. Although he had begun a vacuum abortion, Vuitch said that the fetus had been too big to pass through the suction tube. He said he used instruments to remove the remaining fetal parts.

Although the abortion was done at around 2:00 PM, Vuitch didn't trasfer Wilma to a properly equipped hospital until after midnight. Wilma's family sued, claiming that Vuitch and his staff had allowed Wilma to lapse into a coma and lie unattended for 12 hours before transferring her to the hospital. The suit also claimed that Vuitch and his staff falsified records to cover their tracks.

The family won a judgment on December 23, 1976, but the settlement was sealed by court order.

Georgianna English also died after an abortion by Milan Vuitch.

Dr. Milan Vuitch (1964-1984)

Vuich challenged the Washington, DC, abortion laws, trying to get them struck down as unconstitutionally vague. Vuitch was an outspoken defender of Jesse Ketchum after the deaths of Margaret Smith and Carole Schaner. After legalization, Vuitch went on to kill two legal abortion patients, Wilma Harris and Georgianna "Jeannie" English. Vuitch was eulogized by abortion enthusiasts when he died in 1993.

*Anniversary: Criminal abortionist kills patient after legalization - RealChoice Jan 11, 2008, 8:43 pm

Former criminal abortionist Milan Vuitch had been operating his clinic without a license for two years when 32-year-old Georgianna "Jeannie" English came to him for an abortion on January 12, 1980.Vuitch administered general anesthsia for Jeannie, and she never woke up. She was transported to a nearby hospital where she died. Vuitch settled with Jeannie's family for $150,000. When Vuitch was investigated, it was discovered that he kept patients overnight in his home (an unlicensed facility) which

Dr. Vuitch apparently went to the Supreme Court, challenging D.C. abortion laws; it was the first case to rule on the constitutionality of abortion:

U.S. Supreme Court

UNITED STATES v. VUITCH, 402 U.S. 62 (1971)

402 U.S. 62

UNITED STATES v. VUITCH

APPEAL FROM THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

No. 84.

Argued January 12, 1971

Decided April 21, 1971

Appellant

United States

Appellee

Dr. Milan Vuitch

Appellant's Claim

That the governing standard of the District of Columbia's anti-abortion law, which states that the mother's "life" and "health" must be at risk in order for an abortion to be performed, is not unconstitutionally vague.

Chief Lawyer for Appellant

Samuel Huntington

Chief Lawyers for Appellee

Joseph L. Nellis and Norman Dorsen

Justices for the Court

Hugo Lafayette Black (writing for the Court), Harry A. Blackmun, Warren E. Burger, John Marshall Harlan II, Byron R. White

Justices Dissenting

William O. Douglas, Potter Stewart (William J. Brennan, Jr. and Thurgood Marshall did not participate)

Place

Washington, D.C.

Date of Decision

21 April 1971

Decision

The Supreme Court reversed the judgment of the district court.

Significance

Vuitch was the first decision to rule on the constitutionality of anti-abortion laws. In its aftermath, abortion rights advocates realized that themere absence of anti-abortion laws was insufficient protection for women. Women would need legislation or court decisions to win their right to end a pregnancy.

Somebody was searching for Milan Vuitch

As I checked out what else the searcher turned up, I found this book review by Mary Meehan. Mary mentions Vuitch -- who I now learn was Serbian by birth -- and the two abortion deaths I knew he was responsible for: Wilma Harris and Georgianna English. But Mary also said that a teen died in 1970, six days after Vuitch performed an abortion on her. (This was a year before Vuitch's case challenging the DC abortion law was decided, which would make her an illegal abortion death. Previously I'd thought that Vuitch's only deaths were post-legalization.)

This is the first I've heard of this death. I'd appreciate more information, either on this unfortunate girl or on how to contact Ms. Meehan.

This may have been the record-setting year, but city inspectors have been training for a long time. Consider the early-eighties wne-up match against the Yugoslavian abortionist, Milan Vuitch. City files bulged with violations dating back at least to 1980. A sampler: instruments "in need of cleaning" and "lab specimens. . .refrigerated with food" (1980); patients illegally taken home overnight, use of expired drugs (1981); unlicensed drug distribution and surgical instruments mixed with clean ones (1982); a patient sent home with red urine and a catheter inside her (1982); anesthesia "not freshly prepared and yellowish in color" (1983). Until 1982, the city kept renewing the clinic's license. After that, with inspectors' reports growing ever more vocal, the agency just let Vuitch operate without one.

Although Dr. Vuitch is dead, it looks like his anesthesiologist is still living, and practicing.

EDIT: For those of you who constantly call my mom "fucked up" and a "bad parent", perhaps now you know (part of) the reason she is how she is.

Another EDIT: I have deleted the parts mentioning the guy who is still alive (the anesthesiologist), on Borg's advice.

DF - I am glad your mom is coming to terms with all of this. What a terrible, criminal thing to have happened to, not only her, but so many others.

I think it's too bad that the asshole died before she could find him again!

I think so. She wants us to get the word out about this guy and his partner in crime who is still living and is a practicing doctor very near where I live. I'm even thinking about making fliers saying "THIS GUY IS A RAPIST AND MURDERER" and putting them up at his office...

I know... I read all the stories of the terrible carelessness and malpractice of his that led to the deaths of young women and it just sickens me that he was never given a fair trial and convicted for his crimes, and that people still think of him as "a champion of women's rights".

Yeah, that's the amazing part. I agree whole-heartedly with your effort to expose him (even if he's dead), and anybody who has helped him.

Don't do it, DF. Unless you have real proof you will wind up losing a law suit.

I read what your Mom wrote and I agree the guy is a real scumbag.

Yeah I know. I wouldn't really do that anyways. But my mom's lawyer is working on something to do to this guy... I assume that the statute of limitations on rape has probably expired but mom thinks they should be able to get him on something.

Hah... my brother is already chomping at the bit for the privilege. But my mom said something to the effect of that her lawyer is going to help her "hit him where it hurts - in the pocketbook"... So maybe we'll get rich out of it too. It's nice to know the reason my life is so fucked up anyways (well half the reason, I'll give dad his credit too).

PETA's gotten away with a lot worse.

I say, find a bunch of people who are humanitarians and let them go to town on this guy.
