So who's everyone cheering for; the team wearing Red, White and Blue, or the team wearing Red, White and Blue?

My poor daughters. They both sobbed uncontrollably and are very very depressed.
The further your team goes, the harder it is to see them lose.
I have to give a lot of credit to the Giants' defense and the great savvy play of Eli. He looked like a 15 year veteran and this after all the dissing he's received the past few years. He outplayed Brett in every aspect of his game.
Did anyone see Bart Starr, old number 15, at the game?
Unfortunately, Brett is not Bart, and this was not, repeat not, the Ice Bowl.
This GB team was missing one vital ingredient--Vince Lombardi.

Nice of you to be so magnanimous after your team's loss, Ren.

Thanks Frogger, but it's easy to be magnanamous when it's not your team. :)
I am a Brownie fan and am not overly fond of the Packers, but do admire and respect their tradition and history and of course, I always thought and still do think that Lombardi was THE greatest.
I do feel sorry for my girls. One called in work today, she felt so bad.
I told her she doesn't feel as bad as Brett does.

I am glad for the giants, but am not happy about the "will Brett retire?" talk that will be going on from now on.

It's been going on for five years, hasn't it? They'll keep talking about it until he does retire.
And incidentally, it already started. They asked him that question in the postgame of the Giants game.

ya, and already Favre is himhawing about it. Only three things in life are certain. Death, taxes and Favre uncertain about if he should to come back to play another season or not, and him and the media making a huge deal out of it.

I'd like to add a fourth thing to that list of things in life that are certain: Bryant Gumbel's ineptitude as a sportscaster.

I would just amend that to read "ineptitude as a television personality." or perhaps "ineptitude as a human."

It was a good game, caught only the second half.
It's a good thing their kicker nailed that last, long kick, or he would never have lived down his other two misses. (even though one was a terrible snap.)
that said, GO PATS!

No, Go Giants! If their pass rush can get it going and thier big RB can pound the ball 30 times they have a shot.

Brett Favre is going to get a premium, baby-oiled jack off from the media whether he won or lost that game. The good thing is it only lasted for a day or two instead of being THE FOCUS of the ENTIRE sports world. I was impressed to see some commentators even "call a spade a spade".. and talk about how horrid some of Favre's passes were. His last interception was horrible. In the past... announcers and commentators would be "Oh, that's just Brett being Brett... he's a gunslinger!! He never gives up!!!"... Maybe SOMEONE is finally seeing that while Favre guns balls, he's not very accurate or patient.
As for the Giants... I agree with Trav that if the Giants pass rush can prevent Brady from getting his 12 seconds to throw in the pocket... they have a chance. Plus, it has been documented this year that you can run up the middle and just pound the New England linebackers. Who better than Brandon Jacobs?? The guy is 270 lbs.. and weighs more than all the line backers on his team.
Who would have thought that if you went back in time, and someone said "A Manning will be in the superbowl"... it would be Eli. I actually can go well beyond his brothership to Peyton to want him to do well and for the Giants to win. He has been ripped to shreds by the NY media. His demenor has always been suspect. People always criticize his body language and leadership. How quickly people would shut up if he gets a super bowl ring.
Plus, I would root against ANYONE in the NFL playing the Patriots in the superbowl. While my favorite team couldn't get the job done after a bye week at home AGAIN... the whole "spygate" thing still lingers. The Patriots will have a lot of pressure on them.. well, the giants will too.
However, if you go by "on paper"... you'd have to think the Giants would have to come out hot and score a few TD's to get the momentum. If the Patriots are up 21-10 at halftime.. the game is 90% likely over.

I think it's going to be a low scoring game myself. Maybe 17-10, or 14-7.
I can see the Giants winning. They are on an incredible roll, and the entire country is on their side. Everybody hates the Patriots and their cocky, yet dullard, coach, who gives new meaning to the word "arrogant". His talk about "situations" was better than Prozac. If I was a player, I'd hate playing for a guy like that. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
I also hate Teddy Brewski. Don't ask me why, I just do. There's some people you just hate on sight. He's one of them. He looks like a smarmy crook, or a used car salesman.

I'm pulling for the Patriots, if only to see a team will each and every game they participate in. Otherwise, as I have no money invested in the game, I don't much care.

I want the Giants to win so they can knock the Patsies off their pedestal (to some extent), but at the same time, I was the Patsies to win because I've picked the loser three years in a row. Kinda depends on Tom Brady's "injury."
Decka

I can't NOT respect the fact that Patriots have the best "system" put in place in football. If you pick up a 4th round pick who got cut by the Seahawks.. and then put him on patriots.. they know how to get guys to fill their roles.
Bruschi is a somewhat inspirational story, with his career threatening injury and all... but I'm glad he's back there, because him and Junior Seau can't stop a guy like Brandon Jacobs.
I'd say it's pretty much a 75% chance the patriots win... the giants ARE on a roll.. but the patriots, even if they get down, stick to their gameplan. And the thing that helps them most is that it's on an indoor field in arizona. If it were played up north in the cold, i'd think the Giants would have much better chances.

Even if the Pats go undefeated there will always be an asterisk because of the way they cheated, stealing defensive signals.
What's with Brady's foot? I don't bear him any personal ill will but I sure hope its broken.:hitout:

The Patriots have the distinction of being caught and admitting to stealing signals ... how many other teams have done the same deed and not been caught with their hands in the cookie jar? Besides - that took place early in the season and does not seem to have hampered their play in the least.

Notice it was posed as a question, but yeah, I suspect a fair amount of cheating goes on, as much in the NFL as in NASCAR.

i want the Pats to win so I dont ever have to see them cut to old man Shula every Sunday while he is routing against any undefeated team from week 9 on....

Hear Hear!
Whichever team wins I will be happy. If the Pats win I will get the satisfaction of not having to see those old dolphins standing around slapping each other on the back and that champaign cork sound every year when the last undefeated team loses. Although honestly the media is such a one trick pony they will just do the same thing with the 07 Pats.
If the Giants win I will get the satisfaction of seeing the Patriots win every game except the one that mattered most, and seeing poor Brady sulking around on the sideline, and then I would make a point to watch the post game press conference to see belicheck him and haw.

I'm sure it does, but only Bellichik was dumb enough/arrogant enough to get caught.
I did not like his attitude afterwards. To reporters, he said--"Let's move on--I don't want to talk about it anymore."
I'm sure you don't, Bill, ya fat tub of slobby lard.
I hope they lose 97-3.

Maybe my misspellling is the reason my package of Christmas cookies and coloring books I had sent to his house was sent back as "undeliverable."
