Is there anyone else who cant stop playing with the Rubik's cube?

I started cubeing a couple of months ago. Now I'm down to about 40 seconds on a good solve for the 3x3. I solve the bigger ones too, but they're not as fun. I know I can keep cutting down my time if I stay with it.

anyone else?

I have never solved one of those fucking things. Then again, spatial intelligence (or whatever they call it) was never my strong suit.

I've solved one a few times,I got bored with it fast. I rearranged all the stickers so my brothers could never solve it too

ouch. And no, I never wear jeans, and I'm not a big fan of the music. But now I'm getting the sense that you weren't really looking for an answer to that question. Were you?

(similarly, I'm not looking for an answer to that question.)

I remember the first Rubik's cube I encountered. Was about 1981 or so.

More or less, I was joking about the fact that you love a toy from that time period. Nothing wrong with it, it was just there for the taking. And as much as you didn't want an answer, well, you still got one. :)

It's all good,
I just get a little defensive about my baby. I mean my Rubik's cube. Wait, maybe I have a problem...

I have no patience with it.

Probably because I suck at solving it.

I find it comes in handy as either a doorstop, or to throw at people who pester me. Pretty colors tho.

I remember being in a store as a kid with my mum & we saw a rubiks cube & she asked me if I wanted to get one & I said no. This was pre-rubiks craze and then I guess 6 months later they were all the rage & I wanted one - but I had to make do with one of the cheap immitation ones that were nowhere near as nice.

I remember getting the instructions on paper (this was pre-internet of course) and solving it with instructions & also I took one apart & back together solved.

This all happened of course before people like DarkFantasy / Borg were even born - man I'm starting to feel old.

Then scramble it and give it to someone else. :)

I usually wear brown pants, sometimes I throw in a pair of dark blue or occasionally black. you might even find me in a pair of khakis...

(although to tell you the truth, about a month ago I bought the first pair of jeans that I have worn since I was about six...)

That's the opposite of what I think... Jeans are the most comfortable... Whenever I have to wear slacks or something I feel so uncomfortable (not to mention they look terrible).

rated R
01-19-2008, 07:31 PM
well it's not like there are two solitary categories, I mean sure you can have a bad pair of slacks, but you can also have an uncomfortable pair of jeans.

the other problem is that it's hard to buy a pair of jeans that hasn't been completely destroyed courtesy of American Eagle.

The jeans I just bought are pretty sweet though...

I never shop at AE, Hollister, Abercrombie, or anything like that. For one thing I can't afford it... They're fucking everyone over with their ridiculous prices. Why would I go to AE and buy a $50 pair of jeans when I can get one that's just as good for $5 at the Salvation Army, $15 at TJ Maxx, or $25 at Sears?

Napsterbater

There's a definite difference in quality between jeans you find for $25 at Target and jeans you buy for $150+. Often when I find myself at the mall for whatever reason I'll drool over a pair of jeans or two and wish I had the jack to afford it. Well, I can afford it, but it's the opportunity cost that keeps me from buying. I can't abide spending that much on clothes.

Of course the really expensive ones can definitely be better, but the shit at AE & Hollister is made in the same sweat shops as the stuff at JC Penney.

(I lust over Hollister jeans for one reason - they make them without stretch. You can find that cheaper too, but for some reason 99% of chick jeans nowadays have stretch in 'em. The more stretch, the cheaper they are pretty much. Drives me fucking insane. that's another reason I like Goodwill/Salvation Army... you can find really old stuff if you look hard, like 30 year old non-stretch jeans.)

My clothes are all wicked cheap. I'm all about TJ maxx.

I don't shop at AE I was just giving an example of the obnoxious ripped up jeans. If I wanted something that looked used, I'd buy it at a tagsale

DarkFantasy96

Wow, you use the word "wicked" to mean good... Is that a New England thing now too? I always thought it was just a West Coast thing. I dunno, my old west coast friends used to say I had some fucking weird expressions and stuff too. It's interesting how different parts of the country practically speak different languages.

That definitely originated in/around Boston, but you'll hear it all around New England.

DarkFantasy96

Half my family is from up around there (Connecticut mostly), and the other half is from down south. But I don't ever feel near at home anywhere except here in the mid-atlantic. Southerners think I'm a yankee and New Englanders think I'm a southern redneck, and people from the West Coast just think East Coasters are all weird. I'm just your average white trash drifter, and I've lived in the city, the country, the suburbs, and anything in between those.

I visited Maryland for the first time this year, cause I went and took a look at Johns Hopkins. I didn't really see anything besides Baltimore, but it was pretty cool. I do think of it as southern, you're right. (also, coming from New Hampshire, the most racially homogeneous place on earth, the diversity was new for me.)

I love New England though, I couldn't see myself living anywhere else.

DarkFantasy96

Baltimore sucks completely... Seriously it's like the most ghetto place on the planet. (Really easy to get drugs thought, just pull your car off onto a side street, stop and open your window. In about 30 seconds you'll have 3 drug dealers there competing for your business for several different things...)

Most of Maryland is very white and pretty rural. Where I live right now it's like a country/suburb hybrid (which sucks much worse than just the plain country or the plain suburbs, btw). I'm really a city girl at heart... I hate it out here in the middle of nowhere. There is something to be said for living in a small town though (at least it's better than a suburb or out in the country - you can still walk everywhere you need to go, just like in a city).

I feel you.
It's funny when you walk off the Johns Hopkins campus its like going from Beverly Hills straight into Compton. Obviously I'm exaggerating, but its pretty extreme. You go from people popping collars in the quad to people popping caps in the street.

I'm all about like, large town to small city types. thats perfect for me. I love being close enough to Boston that I can go for a day if I want. Best city in the world. (go patriots by the way)

I always Imagined that area from DC to Boston being one giant Megapolitan area...Guess I was wrong.

I've experienced all forms of home life except for the rural farm; born and raised in a small farm community, which eventually became a distant exurb of Omaha, Moved to a 100,000+ populated city for community college, then to a true college town for 3.5 years, graduated and now living in the big city. I like the city and all, but there's something about living in a small town that just feels more satisfying.

But seriously, I don't know anyone who has a Gamecube. Everyone either has a Playstation or an Xbox or now a Wii. (I have... a Gameboy Color! And I only have two games: Tetris & Supermarioland :D)

We have a Playstation 3 (actually at the moment we have two, because my mom bought my brother and me one for Christmas to share, but then my brother decided he's going to go back to live with my mom and I'm staying here at dad's, so my step-mom got one for dad's birthday for dad and me to share once my brother is gone).

My boyfriend has a Wii, he says he loves it... Seems too much like exercise to me!

Well Mike really likes his... He's never said anything to me about it attracting bugs or anything. :p

A lot of my friends also really like the Wii. I suppose it depends on what kind of games you like. I really like racing games (Gran Turismo, etc.) the best, and Mike said they're not as good on the Wii. Of course the Wii has all those sports games that a lot of people seem to think are really fun... Supposedly Guitar Hero is better on it too.
