The system is the worst, but the quality of care is the best! :)

(EDIT: Just to be clear, that's not what the article says... Just my take on the issue.)

yet people still come here from other places to have medical work done, amazing. Well a lot of people go outside the USA to have surgery they could not afford to have in the USA! There is a medical tourism industry in the United States and 500,000 people or so each year go to other countries to get advanced medical care from lower-priced hospitals and clinics in foreign countries saving 50 to 95 % of the US cost! For cosmetic surgery Brazil,Costa Rica and South Africa are popular. For Denistry Mexico, Costa Rica or Hungary. Even more expensive, invasive surgeries, such as open heart or a knee replacement people go as far as India,Thailand, Singapore, or Malaysia. If they go that far and still save money you know it must be expensive to have it done in America! Sad but true!

I agree. Just yesterday i went to see a doctor for a sinus infection and the "care" was awesome! The doc was great!! However, when I went to the pharmacy to get my prescription filled, the pharmacy told me that my insurance does not cover that brand of anti-biotic. THIS IS BULLSHIT!! MY DOCTOR KNOWS WHAT MEDICINE TO GIVE ME!! That's why you HAVE insurance. So the "system" sucks!! Care good, system bad!!

Its similar to an auto insurance company saying that we won't cover you if you get hit by a toyota. We only cover you if you get hit by a chevy, GM, or Porsche.

what is "a lot" of people? I never heard of anyone going to mexico for dentistry. I am sure you could get some cheap dental work in Tiajuana though.

(EDIT: Just to be clear, that's not what the article says... Just my take on the issue.) Well it does not matter how good the quality of care is if you can't afford it!

It sucks basically because of Trial Lawyers.Like Edwards.
If most the exagerrated Lawsuits were thrown out of court,
not allowed by Lieberally appointed or elected Judges, and if Lawyers
couldn't get such a contingency fee { cut of the settlement } then
maybe Hospitixation wouldn't also be gettin in on the act.
Now,good Doctor's are forced to play the pass the buck game.
Get compensated for referrals.

I went to Tijuana with one of my boyfriends(an x) along time ago and he went to the dentist. The dentist just checked out his teeth and gave him percodan for pain. We went to about 10 farmacias. They never even took the prescription. They even asked us how many boxes he wanted. We went back to San Diego on the train with a shopping bag full of them. Some of them were made in the USA and some were Mexican ones. We just walked right through customs. They just smiled and waved us on. We got on the train to San Diego and all of a sudden a bunch of police rushed on the train. I was freaking out but then they just rounded up several mexicans that were trying to come over on the train. :p Then it was all smooth sailing from there!:woohoo:

Absolutely right!
There is a whole industry just here in Michigan based on getting Americans access to the Canadian health system, either by getting you in contact with a Canadian doctor or specialist or getting Canadian drugs.
The US Health care system is great if you can afford it, unfortunately the reality is that the majority of Americans can no longer afford it.
