If global warming is being caused by man, slowing down population growth is the ONLY answer. The difficult part is how to do it.

Slowing down population growth should be a goal no matter what's happening with global warming.

That article is a little out there but it does have a lot of truth to it, especially this sentence - <<<< Life on Earth could be truly beautiful for all living things if there weren't so many humans competing for all the good things it has to offer. >>>>

There is no doubt there are WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE on this planet but I don't think that article is gonna go very far....

Dare I say it???

...unfortunately.

Oh I just thought I should add.... The Europeans are already doing their part to achieve the goal!

Another unrelated thought.... I think that nature sends epidemics and natural disasters and things to control overpopulation of species. The Black Death would be an example. Not to say that "nature" is sentient or anything, just that it has a way of balancing itself...

why? we don't really take up that much space (http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_much_space_would_everyone_in_the_world_take_up _if_we_all_stood_together_in_a_bunch).

It's not the space, it's the use of resources.

The nature controls a species population through birthrates and deathrates. When the birthrate is to high, the deathrate is increased through resource limitations (starvation) and disease. Also predators who will increase in population will do their part for then to die of starvation when the balance is reaquired.

Nature is cruel that way, and it will do the same thing to us, except that we are actually fighting nature on this. The problem is we are fighting nature on the "death" side only, so we scew the whole thing out of balance. This will eventually have consequences as there just isn't enough resources. We are living on borrowed time already. If it hadn't been for genetically enhanced crops, we wouldn't have enough foodproduction for the current population even. The path we are on can only lead to one thing, mass starvation and increased fighting over resources in the third world.

On the other hand, it is the third world who are responsible for the main increase in population, the western world are pretty stable, at least Europe is.

Here's how you curb the population growth worldwide;

Any person who is arrested more than four times in any one year period for various crimes or misdemeanors (including watching Jerry Springer) is sent to the hospital to be spayed or neutered.

Any person caught, tried and convicted for sexually-abusing children or for manufacturing and distributing crystal methamphetamine is sent to the hospital to be spayed, neutered, and lobotomized. They can then be put to work cleaning up the sides of roads and highways.

Any person caught, tried and convicted for capital murder, mass murder, or serial murder is then summarily shot to death on the courthouse steps.

That's how you do it right there.
Can I get an Amen?

Try telling the russians and western europe and Japanese they need top slow down their population growth. They are not even having babies fast enough to repace those who are dying.

We've already pointed that out, twice. Angelina said that the third world is the source of the population growth. :)

Maybe instead of giving them food, we should be handing out birth control in third world countries.

works for me...but nuking India & China would have more bang for the buck.

as an added bonus, they don't like each other, and have their own nukes:corn:

Why? They're fairly productive.

comapared to the size of their populations, Dutch Harbor is more productive.

Americans are pretty damn productive too... Especially compared to Europeans. We work more hours, take less vacations, etc. It kinda sucks.

It kinda sucks.
Nonsense. It defines us, and in reality, that's why Europe sucks our power teat. I'm proud of that fact. Unfortunately, in the grand scheme of things, we should actually be working harder here. Perhaps that's why the South Koreans and Japanese kick the shit out of us in the productivity department on a per capita basis. Instilling that desire in their children is exactly what makes them WANT to learn in the first place, and unlike the Chinese, they're not coerced.
